LOL nah....it's a good thing as these cars really hold value, as depreciation is typically the highest cost of owning many cars. This car shouldn't depreciate a ton assuming you don't crash it.

Yah the asking price was 86k, I negotiated to 82k and this was about 4.5 years ago. The car was a 2013 also, but there is no real difference between 13 and 14. I did not have carbon trim, but I have PDCC, SPASM, Full Leather (so I don't have that door card issue as my trim is full leather) and Sports Exhaust. And my car had 23k miles and CPO

Now my car has 80k miles LOL

I would say your expectations should be commensurate with the price of the vehicle. If you're paying close to CPO money I would expect the battery and any requisite service to be performed. Now if you're paying well below CPO money then you can change the battery yourself for under $250 (if I can do it anyone can)...and hopefully you can find someone to do the service for less than the dealer's price. As for the door cards, I think it depends on how bad they are. If the lifting is mild I wouldn't expect them to do much (it would probably be considered wear); if there's a significant bubble in the middle of the door then I would at least ask them to fix it (replacing the door cards is quite pricey and would probably be a deal breaker unless you're paying top dollar). If you're worried about door cards and such the CPO is probably worth it.

That seems like a fair price for that car with its excellent spec. Resale value is strong on the last of the NA Carreras (at least for now). While I'm no expert on the sales or purchasing side of things I can say that the car has been a pleasure to own for the last 4 years (with the exception of my local dealer service experience).

Cheers,
NF

I think if you have a lot of expectations you can expect to be disappointed - so try to get it in writing, cover your bases and get a thorough PPI.
good luck

Since the car is not CPO, any maintenance/wear/defects must be addressed in negotiations - in writing. Alternatively, you could request that the car be CPO'd as part of the buy - I would expect at least a $3K increase in price in this case.

Due to corona chan, the car market is topsy turvy right now - definitely a seller's market.

As a point of comparison, I bought a 2014 C4S with a $145K sticker and 9,000 miles, for $90K in 2016.

Personally I would hold off until the world returns back to normal - the whole point of buying used is to get a great deal. Otherwise you might as well bite the bullet and order new.

I bought a used 2015 c2s MT about 4.5 years ago for about 84k and sold it for 82k a year later so yeah, MTs are holding strong.

78k does seem a tad high.. but the current market is crazy. I just bought a 2012 (991.1) C2S MT back in June and I'm almost certain I could get close to 10k more than I paid if I sold it now.

Im curious, is it full leather ? The door panels seem to be just on the non leather doors.

Nope, not full leather. Normally don’t care for full leather, but wish it was with the panel issues. If you don’t mind sharing, what’d you pay last June?

I’m not liking the prices, but at the same time I’m getting more for my STI than I would’ve otherwise gotten so who knows. Seems like the huge price bump is a combination or COVID, manual, and the 992 being so expensive raising the price of all the older ones. I wish Porsche could make a manual 992 with the GT4 engine so I could just get that and forget about used. Call it the new Carrera T.

None of this would be a deal breaker for me but I do my own pads, rotors, calipers, etc. I normally can’t wait to switch to ceramic
pads. If you’re not comfortable with fixing these things - it might me a deal breaker for me because it’s expensive.

In my experience these cars are bulletproof. I’d walk from cars with body work and ones that have been wrecked.

Do you guys think this is the new normal for 991.1 (and used 911 in general) pricing or is this a fluke with prices plummeting in a year? Seems like opinions range on my price from market to straight robbery. Personally I was thinking I’m paying a little too much for a non cpo, but if it was cpo I’d be ok with it. Obviously it’s not cpo, but some people mentioned you could see about getting it added at additional cost. Is that common for dealers to do?

I did speak to the salesman again regarding door panels and maintenance. He said service department said maintenance was all current. I asked for records of the 40k and 6 year service items having been done recently seeing as carfax only shows 30k service done a year ago and he said he’ll get them for me. For the door panels he said they can take care of them under warranty after it’s sold and they do them all the time. I said I want it in writing that they’ll take care of the replacements covering all costs, to which he said he can do. PPI pending Monday. I’ll be the one taking it there so will get to spend a little more time with the car then.

Excuse me, not a warranty but that Porsche will take care of replacement since it’s a known issue and they’ve done it that way before. He said they could put it in writing as part of deal.

Prior service was all done by dealer. Car fax shows the last recorded service as the 30k mile one done a year ago.
Price seems way too high considering car has 40k miles, no CPO, and no full leather...yes inventory is low right now but think you can find a better deal if you wait around.
