I also think this price is at least $5k high. Maybe I’m out of touch with the recent market rise.

Can't comment on price but it seems very curious(to me) that the car is not CPO! You stated it's a Porsche dealer and that the car has been serviced by said dealer. With that history I would question why no CPO?

if it helps, I just bought a 14 C4s 144k sticker, it is a cab. Manual. 9k miles and 1 year CPO I felt price was high but I wanted the car. I think $78k is a premium for that car.

my car was private party.

Maybe offer to pay for CPO if they'll deal with the door panels. That is a bigger deal than Joec500 makes it sound like, I'm afraid. If it's not eligible for CPO, find out why.

Leather is no guarantee that it won't happen, although it does seem to be less common in those cars for whatever reason. The defect is not directly associated with the surface material, but with the inner layer of the underlying foam.

Too much for 40K miles and no CPO. Not to mention the door panels. I bought 13 months ago 2014 C2S, 22 K miles. MSRP was$120K. Perfect with all services up to date and copies all at the local P dealer. Clean car fax and 6 months of CPO which paid for new door panels just a few weeks before expiration. Price was $69500. Keep shopping. Yes the market is strong, but not for this car.

BTW if you are willing to spend 78k for non CPO car with 40k miles, this one is CPO with 14,000 miles and only 4k more.

This would be a better value IMO.

There was a time that I would buy sometimes 15 cars a month (I may hit 500 cars owned sometime next year), and recently bought Porsche #45. First let me tell you as an old experienced (car designer and builder of one off cars for people with very deep pockets), car guy, a good deal is just a state of mind. I would not touch that car for 78K, but as other posters have said this is not the best time to buy certain cars. I have said this many times on many car forums (there are a few folks on Ferrarichat who should have listened they had 30-40K service bills in their first six months of ownership), if you are not good with a wrench do not know how to properly evaluate a car, buy a car from a Porsche dealer with a CPO. This is especially true if this is your first Porsche, you probably want your experience to be a good one and not filled with expensive or annoying issues. As far as pricing, as I said I would not buy that car for 68k, but I have taken apart enough cars ( to have seen teeth broken on transmissions, clutches burned out more times than you probably want to know), to realize not everyone drives a stick shift the same way. My advise would be to find a decent CPO car at a Porsche dealer. Good luck

I see several people have mentioned mileage as a detractor. The car is coming 7 years old. What would be low enough mileage for you all on a 6 year old car?

I've seen some ridiculously low mileage cars (just read someone post about his 4 year old car with 3700 miles). What's the point? That's 900 miles a year. I've driven mine almost that in the year I've had it. And we have 4 other vehicles. I feel lucky that I have to drive several miles just to get into town so at least my car is getting warmed up before it's shut down.

If you're "overpaying" then get the promises in writing and have them CPO the car. This will ensure maintenance is up to date and the door cards will be covered if they're not pro active about them.

Agree with all of you. Can’t pay that much for a 40,000 mile 2014 without cpo even if it’s a hot market and a nice spec. It would be my first Porsche and I think I’ll look for a cpo. My only real must have option is manual. If I’m going take a depreciation hit like a new car buying used, I’d rather order a new c2s with just manual/chrono/pse/spasm and nothing else than buy used. Thanks for all of your input!

The door panels are supposedly 6K although mine were replaced under CPO. thing is their faulty design is the same. Negotiate it off the price and then send them to this guy to be repaired correctly. http://www.pedrosgarage.com/Site/Technolab.html

I paid too much for my car last month but it's all relative...I had been looking for about 8 months with VERY specific things in mind like: White exterior S Cabrio but no black interior, PDK, low miles and garage kept with Porsche maintenance records. A very tall order. Found a 2012.5 991 with 13.6K on it in Naples (i live in Ft Lauderdale) that was a GQ and spent about 6 hours of its life in the sun, not driven in any weather, per owner and like new underneath. White S with a Yachting blue interior/navy top. PDK, Sport exhaust, Sport Chrono, heated seats, front and rear park assist, folding mirrors and nav and that's about it, MSRP $115,840. Needs new tires (original), front hood struts and still has the original battery ...about $1,800 to fix, no biggie. I most likely paid 3-4K too much but I didn't have to fly around the country multiple times looking and/or spend $2K to ship a car. Too much? YES. The right car? YES...PRICELESS TO ME. You will know the right car and after all, that's what you want. My advise is : do not hesitate when you find the right car for YOU. Within reason, the price is secondary. FWIW, I paid 70.

Default Pricing on 991.1

I recently, in the last two months, purchased a similar car, 2014 911S with 38K miles from a reputable Porsche dealer in Rocklin CA. The car was approx. $125K new with PDK and full leather interior etc. At the time I bought this car for $67K, they had two other similar cars on the lot for the same price point. The PO had the dealer perform the 6yr/60K service, brake flush and all new tires. All of the recall and service was completed before they put the car on the lot. That meant a lot to me as a first time Porsche buyer for sure. All three cars, including mine were gone within a week and the used car manager says his buyer is having a hard time finding 911's to put on the lot. Mine was always a local car, serviced at this dealer and traded in for another car by the PO for his wife.

I did take the advise of the dealer and purchased their recommended third party warranty for the car good for 5 years. They have had good luck with this carrier and we had much discussion on it prior to putting pen to paper. With the 60K service, new tires and warranty, I feel that I am in a good place based on overall reliability of the marque and the reputation of the dealer.

Based on all the replies above, and my own personal experience, the used 911 market is HOT right now, but as some have noted, don't buy on total impulse unless it's the right car for you. In my case, I have always wanted a Guards Red 911 coupe and just fell into the deal which suited me well.

Good Luck with your purchase and enjoy it............drive it.................don't just polish it!

You may think CPO is too expensive at this time but if that's an issue one significant problem and your out of pocket that much and more. These are very well built cars that still break at times I would negotiate the best deal for peace of mind or walk away. There are a lot of cars out there everybody got hurt by this silly virus.
