Question 991.1 shortage ?

Hello everyone,
I was in the market for a 997 GTS or 991.1 in March-April but then i had the very bad idea to wait till September.
I'm now shopping around again and it is almost impossible to match prices of 4-5 months ago and inventory is way low.
For example 991.1 base with 20k miles are now going for $65-70k - 991 CARRERA
Even 997.2 prices seems to going up.
What do you think guys?

Supply and demand, none of these cars could be considered high volume so inventories can’t be much.

Also, industry-wide, used cars have been in demand during the virus outbreak.

Owners may also be holding off new purchases due to financial concerns and this is affecting trade-ins.

Lots of stuff going on.

Yes prices are much higher for used cars in general.

I was looking for 991.1 GTS but prices and selection caused me to look at 991.2 stock. I went with a 991.2 T instead.

Yeah. I also noticed that there are fewer cars and higher prices compared to 6 months ago. I got my 13 C2S that's fully loaded with 8600 miles for 70K last March. It took me about a year and checking out about 5 cars before I found this one. When I I was looking at cargurus or autotrader, there's usually 8 pages worth of cars. Nowadays its down to a about four pages.

sweet deal.. it is almost impossible to get something for that money now..
I also think that the new prices of the 992 (which are $20k than a new 991.1 in 2013), are keeping up the market value of the 991-997.
Just found this 991 carrera base

I think people are holding on to their .1 because of the on-going emissions investigation. I heard diesel Cayenne owners got a nice check from Porsche.

I don't think it has anything to do with that. I bet 99% of 991.1 owners have no idea that is even happening.

I think it's two things - for people who want NA, 991.1 is the end of the line and there is value in that. The other thing is that if you own a 991.1 (like me), there's not a great reason to sell or "upgrade." Unless you really want the ability to add power through tunes, the 991.2 and 992 aren't worth the hassle and cost of it all for most people (and some would argue the 992 is a downgrade, not me, but some would).

There will always be a shortage of the last NA Carrera. The fact they are such good values too is purely bonus. And there isn’t a modern 911 I’d take over an R to include GT cars.

I do not think the market for 991.1 Carreras is going to dip when COVID clears. It was only a matter of time before the value in the car (last of the NA 911 Carrera) became apparent to many. I think there are a lot of people out there (myself included) who bought my 991.1 to keep it long-term, knowing it was the end of the line for the NA 911 non-GT cars. And for those who are willing to sell, I bet most of them know full well what they have and will not part with it on the cheap.

Wow. Almost 70K for a base 911.BTW, if you don't already know, try really hard to find a car with full leather interior. They are less prone to having issues with the door panels.
