I dont know what to say other than driving the back to back, that the 992S simply feels SO SO very much faster to the *** dyno. Maybe the 8speed PDK has something to do with that. I dunno. But its faster by a long shot if you ask me.

Exactly that. That is simply feels WAY faster than my 991.2 GTS. Maybe the 8 speed vs the 7 speed PDK makes me feel this way. I dont know. Im just saying that coming from a 991.2 GTS to the 992 S, that the S feels much much faster to me. By a lot too.

Coming from a 2017 991.2 S into the 2019 GTS. One thing I disliked about the GTS was... all the power was at the top end. The 992 S is very similar to the 991.2 GTS power band feel. But it hits even later and pulls even harder in the upper RPM. Again maybe the 8 speed PDK has something to do with it. I dont know. But you can clearly feel the difference if you drive them back to back.

PS: My favorite to drive was the 991.2 S. I loved how the power band felt in that one. And while the 992 PDK is nice with its 8 gears. I miss the 991.2 PDK center stick. Which I didnt use much at all, but it was nice to use if I needed to for whatever reason. The 992 PDK kinda forces automatic mode of you.

Well, here's a link to a number of well-modded cars making a lot of power. The path is easy to follow.

Let’s not forget to maintain mod-distancing incase they blow up.

"Feel" is deceptive (as is selection bias). I've driven both back to back on the same roads in close proximity. On full acceleration pulls with both cars, there was no dramatic difference. You must have a magical unicorn then The PDK does make the power band feel a bit different...i'll give you that.

I totally get the butt-dyno factor for sure. When I test drove the 991.2S and GTS back to back, the GTS felt quicker to me. I even test drove the TTS and although it was a beast, I liked the GTS better because I felt like it had more character. JMHO. My 991.2 C2 GTS with headers, cats, high flow filter, and stage 2 feels like the TTS that I test drove but louder - of course, that's based solely on my butt dyno. Solid data between the 992S and 991.2GTS would be nice to see but at the end of the day, to each his own.

Maybe I do. Because I even had sport cats on my GTS. Not that; that is going to give me a huge advantage, but still. Maybe Im crazy though. Im open to that. = )

The GTS for sure had way more character! It sounded much nicer too.I had soul cats and BMC drop in filter and that was the best sounding Porsche I ever had. I just could not live with the alcantera any longer and the centerlocks got on my nerves. I was so ready to get out of my 991.2 GTS, and now I actually miss it. The new 992 is great and to me it feels way faster. But who knows. Maybe I am crazy.

And I agree, we need more data on this. I found this, but like you guys said. They are somewhat equal per C&D. But I want to see a video drag race!

We have a 992 base cab and a power kit 430 hp 991.1. For sure our 991 is faster than our 992 but our 992 is meant for a different driving experience. Anyhoo, if the performance of both your former and current cars is essentially identical I’d give the nod to the car that doesn’t feel as fast. You don’t want something just to feel faster. You want it to be faster.

Plus your 991 is slightly more powerful than your 992. When Porsche delivers a 992 GTS it will be both more powerful and quicker than your 991 GTS.

You basically upgraded the platform but not performance. Not that there is anything wrong with that. The more performance your car is capable of usually the less you use of it. You being the same driver you’ll basically operate the cars the same way.

New generation of cars will always have performance improvements, especially high performance vehicles, and some ergonomic enhancements as well. As I get older, I'm definitely not a fan of change especially when it comes to cars. When I was younger, I always wondered why some of these old farts enjoyed putzing around in their old cars. Well, I'm now that old fart. I'm sure I'll warm up to the 992 soon enough. Heck, I ended up buying our first BMW recently and I''ve always told myself that I'd never own a Bimmer. Change or die, as the saying goes. To the OP, buy what pleases you. Both are great cars....first world problems!
