Correct, the same people that jack this person's SUV, during daylight in a busy intersection near the Porsche dealer, came back to their home to probably rob them some more. They recognized them and called the police probably got away again. That is the part that is messed up.

Absolutely.. has to be scary as hell just to have gun pointed at you.

I agree. I've had a carry permit for over 20 years and have also trained to become reasonably proficient with a handgun. And I understand that there is always the chance that something bad can possibly happen anywhere and any time. That said, at my advanced age, I can't remember an instance in my life when I needed, or even would have wanted, a gun. That type of situation simply hasn't been part of my life, and given that carrying all the time entails its own compromises, I choose not to.

Driving a manual probably cuts out 90 percent of the car jackers. And having entry-and-drive means that the car key is in my pocket rather than in the dash and I suspect most car jackers wouldn't notice until after they stalled the car the first time.

i think it's very unlikely that a car jacker would choose a 911 to steal. they kind of stand out and presumably the crim is car jacking to get away from some situation quickly.

and don't put your home or work addresses into your GPS. why would you? you know where they are and how to get there, right?

Can't be quoted enough. Thanks for your service, and for posting this.

Agree on this. You're already in a bad situation. Best thing possible is to be left standing by the side of the road without a luxury item.

And yes on no personal information in the car plus a convenient way to open your garage. Tracking device (separate from the car's GPS) is no bad idea, either.

True, it is something I really don’t worry too much about. We don’t have many carjackings here LOL. But then again, I don’t drive my 911 in SE DC...

Thank you for some common sense advice.

While I respect everyone's opinions there are certain situations where you cannot predict the perp. We've had burglars and carjackers in CA that have put bullets in people for no reason. Everybody is unpredictable, there's no right answer here. I agree with D1 coach that it's hard to fast draw a weapon unless you have a magnetic mount in your 911.

Good one on not putting your home address in the GPS. I am guilty of this and will start changing it today in all cars. Only problem is the registration is in there

I recently learned that in Colorado, when you get your registration, you get two copies. One has your address and one does not. I never realized this before, but I have made sure that the one without is the one in the glovebox of all vehicles.

never never store your home address in the NAV nor docs in your glow box with your name and address.

Why not? Maybe some people would like to greet the perp with their AR. I’m kidding of course. My previous post about a steel baton, bear spray etc. was to get people to consider some measures to deal with civil unrest if suddenly you find yourself in a situation. Might buy you some time to get away. The ATF guy who posted previously is right. Give the guy your car if he has a gun on you. Not worth it unless it’s a Carrera T.....
