Default Car Jacking

Hey guys, recently there have been more and more car jacking near me. I have even heard that they come back to you home since all your information is in the car. Got me kind of wondering what you may use to track down/lock down your vehicle just in case.

I know about Lo Jack. I know Porsche has something via their app but seems like the app does not work like it should. Any other tech out there.

Are 911's jacked at all?

I'd imagine all cars have the potential to get jacked (if you are taking about strong arm robbery). I'd also imagine that this is a crime of opportunity and that circumstances such as being in the wrong place at the right time would contribute.

As far as a vehicle tracking device, my dealer had lo-jack preinstalled and I had them remove any and all trace of it from the vehicle. I prefer to go commando.

The instance that I was referring to was that a man pulled a gun and made everyone get out of the vehicle and took the suv at a stop light. Happened at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon a block away by the Porsche dealer I go to.

You are right there is always a chance but just never heard of Porsche getting jacked at least by me.

I’ve been jacked. Happened in my 86 911 in houston. Guy stuck a gun at my head, said get out of the car. What he didn’t know was I had a fuel cutoff switch in front of my right seat track. I got out, and he got about a block before it ran out of gas😀. Now I just carry my 45.

.45 in Hydra Shok works pretty good, I’m sure.

Most car jackers are not after the car to sell or have "chop shopped" but to joy ride or escape a previous crime or get purses and valuables. Then again it could be an "Anarchist" which is becoming more common unfortinatley but they tend to be cowards and travel in gangs. I was a boy scout too many years back to mention but I have always lived by their motto "Be Prepared".

That is why I am never alone in my 911 or Cayenne or my wife's car or even on a walk or an errand with out my friend "Mr. Glock" by my side, especially in these crazy times! No, don't go out and buy one......learn how to correctly use it first.

One thing I've always heard is to never save your home address in the GPS/Navi (i don't use teh Porsche Navi anyways, it sucks). I also register through my LLC (lots of other benefits to this) that isn't my home address so my registration card doesn't have my address on it either.

With this technology the 9mm vs .45 debate is dead. Former Blackwater and Army Ranger here. I carried .45 as a soldier because Geneva Convention says FMJ only. Blackwater we mostly used 9mm HP and FHS was the round of choice and we did a LOT of testing If you like .45 then go for it but ballistics show a 9mm FHS has the stopping power and kills the target faster. In this care you do want to kill them. Corpses don't testify or sue you...

I'm guessing car jacking of Porsche's is lower in frequency than other makes, since they're driven less and typically not used as daily drivers.

As far as Lo-Jack I remember my dealer offering it around 2008. Then around 2015 they started saying it was pre-installed in their cars that was on the lot, and charging for it. Personally I would not want Lo-Jack on one of my cars. If someone steals it, I don't want that car back most likely. There is going to be damage from them stealing it most likely.
