Default 991.2 base with fabspeed headers+sport cats

Howdy fellow members, apologies if this has been previously discussed here; any (good and perhaps more important, bad) experience someone would like to share swapping OEM exhaust manifold/cats with fabspeed aftermarket similar? car is still under warranty and cannot deal with CEL (check engine light) or any other issues, more than trying to gain a few horses, I'm exploring reducing weight, appreciate any feedback, thanks

Lots of threads you can look up. The upshot: go with equal length headers such as Vektor or Kline, and everyone seems to love Soul sport cats (mine are Kline and I’m very happy as well).

My vote is for Vektor, but I'm biased. With that said, any equal length header will be the better choice. As far as the high flow cat options, I believe most of them (i.e. most manufacturers) use the same after-market cores. So far, they all seem to be good as far as not triggering CEL's.

Soul cats are most popular in the forum. They have a good quality, solid fitment products and the they're also very active on the forum so any question you have, they're always very helpful.
Also they're taking pre-order on the headers as well.

In addition to their headers, Vektor makes sport cats too for the non-PSE exhaust. They most likely make the most power out of any of the sport cats out there. Besides that, I don't think anyone makes a higher quality part based on the quality of welds. If you look at their headers, the attention to detail such as the runner entrances, I haven't seen anyone do it better.

One other point with regards to noise levels, people seem to be happy with using two out of the following three: headers, sport cats, exhaust. Using all 3 would likely be too loud for the vast majority of owners. If you want max weight reduction, my guess is the muffler is the place to lose it and basically go with straight pipes. Vektor did try a muffler-less setup, but I don't know if they got to the point of selling that setup. For something a bit more conventional, Soul and Sharkwerks make basically straight pipe setups.

Well, if we're suggesting muffler-less exhaust set-ups, check this one out: https://www.vividracing.com/tubi-sty...152645219.html
It's very much like what SharkWerks offers, but I think the pipe layout and integration of the smaller pipes into the larger has better flow. Ironically, no one ever talks about it here. At the end of the day, I think both the Tubi Style and SharkWerks are very similar products as far as weight savings and sound.

I do like the tubi flow merge better than the other options. I have a strong dislike of 90 degree flow merges.

@3point6 I invite you to give us a call to chat about all of your options for your 991.2! If you have a base non-PSE car changing out the cat sections / headers won't make a dramatic difference in sound to where you would regret it. There is not much weight to be saved by replacing the cats as most HJS HD 200 cell sport catalytic converters will weigh around the same. Our rear exhaust will shed less than a pound, but the anti-drone tubes are engineered to target and reduce droning frequencies that resonators cannot mitigate as effectively. You can also upgrade to a BMC air filter for a slight increase in intake sound.

I guess I gotta be the lone opposing voice here... I say go with the Kline Headers and the Soul cats. Yes, Kline and Vector are the only two equal length headers, but thats where the similarity stops.
Vector's are heavier, more expensive and hang lower than the Klines. Yes, the Vector headers have much nicer welds, if that is something you can ever see once they are installed...

Soul cats use the same cores as everyone else and are less expensive than most. They have probably sold more cats for our platform than any other vendor and they support us.
I have yet to read a negative review from an owner of Soul Cats anywhere.

My 2 cents

Everyone loves the headers they have, regardless of brand... I have no experience with Fabspeed but they are the only brand with threads I am familiar with containing testimony of fitment issues and less than optimal customer service. FWIW, Soul is the cheapest and the most praised customer service. That itself does not make them the best (or Fabspeed bad) but I think this sums up any knowledge transfer from searching.

My opinion is a little different than most here. Are you doing the install? I'd go with the best quality you can. My opinion is go with Vektor for headers and FVD for sport cats on a 991.2. Will you likely be able to tell across brands for the street? Doubt it. Is there a shop that you use? If so, I'd stick with their recommendations to help them, their relationship with the supplier and yours with them for the support.

Kline or soul would be my recommendation for good customer service and quality products

I've installed both. Neither had fitment issues.

Yeah, when you look at them side by side, the choice seems really obvious, even if a few hundred bucks more. With that said, I'll stick to my original comment, both would be a win as a final choice. Although, I still find it funny that you can't find a customer example of someone buying the Tubi Style on this forum. I may have to take the plunge just to prove a point!
