In the market looking for the 991.1 Carrera S for the naturally aspirated experience, seems there are model year of 12, 13, 14, 15.
Wondering if there are any driving difference, or any specific year or model to avoid? Thanks!

12 and 13
The 12 and 13 dont have rev match (which I prefer). There were cov failures on some cars but these are just cheap plastic valves. The early cars have not surfaced any inherent specific flaws. They all have a design flaw on the door panels but a dude in florida named pedro can fix them permanently for reasonable. 3.8 is the one to have.

Model year 2016 is also 991.1, at least in the U.S.

I have vague impressions on have read somewhere that 14+ models have some steering/chasis update, seems it is not true.
Yep love the sound of the 3.8 - especially with the PE or Akrapovic!

I have said this before and will repeat..
there IS a huge difference in chassis/drive and feel of a 991.1 C2S and 991.1 GTS.
I moved from a 25K mile garage queen '12 991.1S with S-PASM to a 20K mile 991.1 GTS and they drive/feel very differently.
There is TONS more steering feel and feedback, the rear is far more planted and medium to high speed corner stability is noticeably better in the GTS.
Also have driven the 991.1 Base and 991,1 without S-PASM.. and I would strongly suggest you search for a C2S with the S-PASM , lower ride height looks amazing on these cars, unless you want to deal with the hassle and expense of installing coilovers at a later time
good luck

the base 991 is - from what I understand - the model of choice in Germany where hp is taxed.

Unfortunately 991.1 GTS is very hard to find in China, also that will be another 20k or 30k above the already $100k+ C2S.. So may need some luck to pull the trigger

depends on what you plan to do with the car. I'm a 66 year old geezer and purchased the car new as an early 60th birthday present for me. it's my daily driver and I'll never track it. It's plenty powerful for the road and highway. Actually the only place where I open it up is on turnpike on ramps...

Test drove a C4 911.1, felt like still want more power cause I'm coming from a ~400hp tuned car hehe.
But indeed once we hit the high rev range, C2/C4 is quite strong and the sound is amazing. Love this characteristic of NA cars so much!
