25% Discount off 2019 911
Hey guys:
I was able to lock in a 25% discount off a new 2019 Porsche Carrera (991.2). It’s fairly well-loaded. Personally speaking, I’m barely getting a 5% discount off a 2020 base Carrera. I don’t really care about all the options. But even with the 5% discount off a base Carrera - it’s still a difference of about 10k in price.
My question is - do you think it’s possible that a 2020 will get discounted to such a degree (25%) later in the year or next year? Or is this just a crazy good deal? Does Porsche normally do these sorts of big discounts for outgoing models? Or is this just a crazy good deal. I do want to point out that I would basically need a 12.5% discount off a base 2020 (I don’t care about all the options) to match the deal on getting in the 2019. Do you think Porsche would give 12.5% off of a 2020 any time this year or next year? Do they ever give 12.5% discounts off of 911’s?
I would really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

I don’t think you will get that large a discount on the 2020. To me in sounds like you are not sure if the 991 or 992 will be best for you. For most of us, we know for sure. Maybe wait until you re sure but the 25%off won’t be around for forever.

take the 25% and move forward with it. I did something similar but the car wasn't new - it was lightly used.

Get the car you want. If you want the 992 but get the 991 because of the discount you’ll be trading it in on a 992 next year at a loss. You’re already spending ) figures on a car, get the one you want

And it sounds to me you prefer the 2020, so wait for the discount if any.

If it's all about the discount, then I'd say, sure, there's a "chance" you can get a highly optioned 992 next year at 25%. A "chance". I suspect it would be pretty unlikely though. But you never know when the dealer is at the end of the month and doesn't, really, want that Superman 4S Cab with the yellow gauge faces he's had sitting at the back of the showroom anymore.
New Porsche buyers, especially 911 buyers, spend endless time configuring their cars EXACTLY as they want them from the factory. They want the options they want, for the reasons they want them, and Porsche can charge a fairly hefty profit margin to meet that demand.
Fact is, they aren't making any 991s any more, so if you find one that has the options you are looking for, at a decent price, you probably should hop on it. But you are spending a fair chunk of change. A 911 is a car you want, not a car you need. Buy what you want.

Let's ALL hope they are not offering 25% discounts on 992s anytime soon.

That 2019 is a 1.5 year old used car as soon as you drive it away and the dealer is desperate to get rid of it. There is not 25 percent dealer margin in these cars so they are either losing money or Porsche is giving them money on the back end to help move it. You will not see that kind of discount on a 992 ever until the same situation arises with a new model release. 992 model discounts will increase somewhat over time as supply goes up and demand falls. But even getting 12 percent off is unlikely unless there's some extenuating circumstance with a particular car or dealer. All that said, if you want a 992, pay the extra to get it or you will regret it later.

If you want a 992 at 12.5% or more you can probably get a “new” (demo) one with a few miles, or a CPO with a few miles.

If the warranty has been started, try to get them to CPO the car and negotiate that into your final price.

Damn. Beat me by 2.5% (got my leftover 2017 for 22.5% off).
Leftover 992s will get there, if they stand on the lot for that amount of time. Right now, the best I've gotten is 10% off on them.
