I agree - put it in the Marketplace here as well as 6speedonline.com. There are always people looking and if you have a good history on the car, are up to date on the maintenance and have taken care of it cosmetically you will get more than the trade, even after considering the tax savings when trading. Besides, what do you to lose?! Post a link to your ad when you get it up.

To be clear, I will not trade my car to Tesla, and I’ll provide the same answer to you that I provided Tesla. I won’t give a company that lowballed me that offensively, my business. Why not sell private party? Maybe I will. I don’t want to get hit with 6.25% sales tax on a $100k+ car if I don’t have to but given Tesla is offering me $30k+ less on a trade than others, I won’t be buying a car from them.

Angry about trade in offer, no Tesla for you. Ever. Got it. Thanks.

Well, I never asked for advice, despite well-meaning people insisting on giving it, and I guess you’re saying that we’re only allowed to post asking for advice. No, you’re right. I’ll let you guys get back to your regularly scheduled programming on whether or not to order deviated stitching on your 992.

Why do people get so emotional when given low ball offers? If you don't like the deal negotiate a better one or move on. When I negotiate with a dealer, I always start with a low ball offer. Dealer usually scoffs a bit at first and if we don't progress, I move on to the next one. Plenty of Porsche dealers out there that would love to buy your car. If you want top $, sell privately. I'm not a big fan of paying sales tax either but sometimes that's the cost of doing business. Here in beautiful taxifornia I pay 9.5%. Ouch!

No one wants to take another car in on trade. The market is quite saturated. Dealer lots are FULL? One Audi in town has 349 cars. New! That’s likely 15M in inventory. Not a horrible time to buy. 10% off MSRP should be a given. Porsche might take 20% on a highly optioned car.

Dealers won’t offer Mannheim mrr. They have to hedge the downside and auction volume is very low right now. Offer is in line with a non marque dealer.
Do this. Call a few Porsche dealers and ask them what they’d offer. Got to a local dealer or 2. Check carvanna. That will give you a range. Private party is more. But. Drama and work.

In the past, Tesla has been willing to match or beat Carmax and similar corporate buyers. You might want to see if you can get a decent offer from one of them and then take it back to Tesla.
I certainly feel your pain. I tried trading my low mileage (8K) 2017 C4GTS for a Tesla S about 9 months ago and Tesla offered me $85K which was at least $15k too low. My local Carmax insulted me even worse so I still have my GTS and in hindsight I'm happy about it.

I assume you’re referring the the dealer in Dedham, MA. You could act as the “middle man” and work out a price with Prime Porsche down the street with an out right purchase of your vehicle then arrange your trade with Tesla with Prime purchasing your GTS from them.

If I wanted to wholesale the car, yes, but at that point, I’m lower than even trade in value. At that point, I’d just sell private party. There are less than 10 2019 Carrera GTS in the whole country posted on cars.com and only 3 manual transmission cars. Autotrader has more posted, like 25, but less than 10 manuals. It’s not like there are a ton of these cars on lots, and no, dealers actually aren’t swimming in cars. Porsche dealers across the country do not have a massive inventory. If anything, inventories are running low, not high, since factories were closed for an extended time. If I decide to trade towards a non-Porsche, I may see if Norwell will sell on consignment but right now, I’m leaning toward trading for a Spyder or just keeping my GTS.
