Hello P-Car Friends, wanted to get a subjective opinion. Currently in the garage:

993 C2, MT and 18k miles
997.2 C4S CAB, MT and 20k miles
Tesla Model S 90D, lease you be return next month

I have come across a gorgeous 991.2 Targa 4S MT. A car I’ve always wanted to own ( either air cooled or new ) ... gorgeous color ( my favorite ), super low miles and CPO. Beautiful initial depreciation. While wasn’t looking for Targa came across it and it’s on of those cars that if you don’t get, hard RJ have a second stab at.

in the same time, I have a desire to get out of the Tesla and get a taycan and experience first generation Porsche electric car with all the gold and challenge that will come with that.

option 1: return Tesla, get the taycan ...skip targa
oprion 2: return Tesla, get Targa 4S, maybe sell the 997.2 C4S because I feel it will be a bit too excessive and if I miss a sedan EV will figure it out ....

Would really appreciate some opinions and logic. I know it’s subjective, but simply curious on thoughts.

Targa owners all seem to love them
But seems like an unusual comparison vs Taycan
Do you need to carry more than 2 people? If so Targa not a great option.

sell the 997 and replace it with the 991.2 Targa. Get a ''normal'' sedan (like an A4 or an A6) instead of spending the money on the Taycan.

Get the Targa now and enjoy it, and in a few years you can get the Taycan once it is improved upon...too new now and it will get better.

I think because you are used to electric power with the Tesla, you need to another electric car. I vote Taycan 4S for that instantaneous torque. Targa 992 is around the corner anyway.

These are two exact cars, the Targa is a Paint to Sample. Thank you for being helpful, a couple of additional thoughts:

1. I am single, no children... typically +1 in my car if that ...

2. as a business man, need a sedan for meetings. Etc.... due to pandemic, working from home and not commuting to downtown La ... most likely won’t before January ...

3. need electric, and one big +1 for Tesla over taycan is autopilot which is amazing in LA traffic

so one option, get the Targa - when I need a sedan back, I could get another model S and let the taycan work itself out ... ( Tech and initial frenzy )

I am feeling that this targa is one of a kind hard to find again. And I absolutely like the 991.2 Ofer 992 all day long.

Get the Targa.

You can get a Taycan built to your specs anytime in the future. You're not going to be able to get a 991.2 Target the way you want it. I'd sell the 997, get the Targa, and get a Model 3 in place of the Model S.
