Default Cancelled my C8 order and bought a 991.1

This is my first post on Rennlist and up until a week ago never thought I'd be posting for advice and input on a 911. As the title says I had placed an order on a C8 last July and prior to Covid my order was supposed to filled in early April. This was supposed to be my first sports car, a weekender. I grew impatient and somewhat frustrated with GM's lack of communication so I began looking for alternatives that I had more control over. The 911 was a consideration early on last year but I thought was beyond my budget. An idle mind is a dangerous thing and I started to browse Cargurus and found a 2016 991.1 CS that spoke to me, I had to have it. I spent two days trying to resolve in my mind what was the right thing for me. I'm more comfortable with my decision as time passes and am super excited to get it. It should be shipping from Pittsburgh to Boston sometime at the end of next week.

Like most of these forums, there's a treasure trove of knowledge and experience. I will continue to research as much as I can but welcome any input and advice that you're willing to share. I'm looking forward to all that this forum has to offer.

Wow! That's one good looking 991! You're gonna love it! And I think you made the right choice. Sounds like the C8's are already plagued with some quality control issues. Can always wait until they get the kinks worked out (if ever) to pick one up.

That’s a great deal! I bought a similarly optioned car but it was 2014 with 16,000 miles for a price that’s not too far from yours just some months ago.

I’m also located in Boston! Where abouts are you? Hope to see you around!

How come the dealer sold it to you with less than 2 years of CPO warranty? was it a Porsche dealer?

That's the first thing I thought as well, since (I believe) the CPO is only transferable between private parties.

Oh and welcome to the club!

It was an independent dealer. I was able to speak with the previous owner. He traded the 911 in for a Panamera because his wife wouldn't get in the 911. He hated to see it go but wanted something they would use together.

So I called my local Porsche dealer and provided VIN to confirm CPO. I was told that I could transfer for a small fee. I just read on the Porsche website that the warranty will not transfer if purchased from an independent dealer. Looks like I have some work to do to resolve. I'm feeling less optimistic after reading this.

That’s one heck of a first sportscar— wish I had that.
