991.2 4S Rear Badge Install Template/Measurements
Folks - having installer to wrap my rear bumper with Expel. They messed up making the template pattern for the badge from the original which is nor completely removed, and now we need to figure out the template for "PORSCHE" and "911 Carrera 4S" (see picture). They do not have the template holder or the template for the badge that is sold by Porsche, and are reluctant to spend the money for it (total about $800 for both). We are in a small market, so it's understandable. I reached out to the local Porsche owners to see if anyone has the same car, but I don't remember seeing 991.2 4s around. Question/help request - what would be the best way to install the rear badge with the limitations outlined above? Does anyone have any measurements that they could share, or perhaps is there a place to borrow the template holder/template for the fill PORSCHE 9111 Carrera 4S badge? Your input/help is greatly appreciated!

The pic is the original badge, which was removed for the PPF. We need to figure out the placement measurements/template to install the new one. Any input greatly appreciated!

I had rear emblem installed twice (991.1 and 991.2) before:
1. For my 991.1, my local dealer installed it at no charge while I was doing oil change as they have one so you can ask your dealer first if they can do it for you for free or small fee.
2. For my 991.2, the dealer I used didn't do any emblem work and they use local collision center for any paint/emblem work so they gave me the shop info and I went there to install.
I saw the template and it's pretty heavy duty metal template for all 911 models (it had so many way to adjust it for different models/configurations) and it's not something worth purchasing.
Good luck.

Thanks - we are in a small market and no one has the template around here, including the dealer, or even the Porsche certified body shop. Just trying to figure out a workaround without the template. Appreciate the input.

How about leaving the script off and just focus on placement of PORSCHE?

It looks template holder is the expensive part and actual emblem template is not too bad (it's bad but not 'too' bad).
991 Emblem Template Holder ($545)
https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/SKU991EHOLD.html
Emblem Template Insert - PORSCHE 911 Carrera 4/4S ($169)
https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/SKU991ETC4.html
So you may just buy template insert and measure someone else 991.2 for starting point of emblem placement.
And usually getporscheparts.com is cheaper than sunocast so if you decide to go this route, I highly recommend contacting them to get a price. they're much closer to you and most likely they would have a cheaper price.

Unless you want to invest a ton of money in the template, it seems like your best bet at this point is to just try your best to eyeball it. You have a good picture of what it looked like before. Hopefully the film installer can use that as a guide.

I agree. You can search this forum and find the dimensions for installing PORSCHE and after that it is easy to place the others below it. I have done it a few times and it came out perfect.

It’s difficult to align properly because of the curvature of the bumper. If the letters are installed straight across, then it doesn’t look right. I know there’s an old thread on here somewhere that shows how a rennlister used Legos to build his own template, and it worked perfectly. Maybe you can find that thread.

Raise the spoiler and measure down 64mm (I think...that may be when no 2nd row is added - consult the thread) starting in the center with "S" and then work to the outsides. When you are done the letters will form a slight smile, not a frown as someone else here wound up with. Again, there are several threads on the topic and it is not as hard as one may think. Here is one from another site: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...rear-deck.html

Hey guys, I know how frustrating it can be to reinstall the emblems and price of the jig isn't justifiable for personal purchase. Attaching some pics of factory placement of emblems on my car with measurements. This is an MY 2012 991.1 carrera S with full model designation at the rear.
