Default Now I've done it!!

Hi all,
So after my recent oil change, I noticed I was about 1/2 quart low, so popped the hood, opened a half full bottle of Mobile 1, placed the cap on the air intake screen, and watched in horror as the screen rotated, and the cap dropped down the air intake!!!!
Put a borescope down the air inlet, and the cap found it's way down to the bottom of the air filter housing.
My little claw retrieval gadget can't grab on to it, so my question to the group is: can I leave the cap where it sits until the next air filter change, or do I need to pull everything apart to retrieve the cap?
I just finished my 6 year service by the way.
Regards
Jeff

I mean technically it should not find its way into the motor, but I would want to remove it to be safe as it would always be in the back of my mind.

Can you get halfway there? Pull the upper duct work and then see if your grabber can reach.

Can you slide a hose or tubing all the way to it? If so, I'd try using a shop vac to either suck it into the hose or at least get it to stay up against the end of the hose as you pull it out.

^^^^ I like this suggestion.

Or a piece of wire with some tape at the end..... sticky side out of course.

You can buy reducers to get the shop vac to roughly 1/2" in diameter at the big orange store or online and from there buy some smaller flexible tubing that you could duct tape to that. I am confident you could jerry rig something that would be epic suction at a very small diameter. I used my crap shop vac to suck heavy speaker wire 50" through a 1/2 pvc pipe via those reducers. Good luck!

I can't see how it could be a problem to leave it there. There's plenty of room for it to settle before it even gets close to the air filters.
