yep, if you open the access hatch in the rear, the oil level needs to do its thing again before giving you a reading

Mine is the PITA oil reader inside the car. You have to wait until operating temps, then you add the additional oil and have to wait until it reads the additional oil. I miss dip sticks.
What is SOP at the dealers? Measure all oil drained and add same amount back, or does the tech take the car out for a ride for 15 min?

I think they use a computer hookup to measure. The off the shelf OBD tools we buy does not have that capability.

With a regular dipstick, it also brings back the ability to extract the oil from the topside via a vacuum canister. Oil changes are 90% easier with this method!

I used the same oil plug for years from when the car was new and would use a torque wrench to 37lb spec without an issue.

Purchased a new one and I swear they seem lighter/different even though I'm told they're the same.

Last year like a fool I use a torque wrench on the new plug and this happens -

PSA is just hand tighten the thing! I still use the torque wrench on oil filter cap but thats <20lbs

Somethings not right. I get a new drain plug every time with the kit I order from FCP Euro. Always torque to 37 ft lbs. I don't think my plugs have those letters stamped on them.

Maybe that's a non-OEM drain plug?

*Edit. I always keep the previous plug (just in case) and it doesn't have any lettering stamped like yours does.

Purchased it from the Porsche dealer in NYC. I think they all have that stamped AFAIK because I've picked up a few replacements from Suncoast for the next change.

Another quirk - you can reset the maintenance interval for years to come (assuming you don't put a ton of mileage on the car since it will remind at 10k).

I replaced my original one (which was actually in great shape) with this one.

The biggest quirk of all, imo, is the "non-serviceable sealed" PDK. When it breaks, just throw it out and buy a new $20,000 refurbished one from Porsche. LOL.
