Default After three+ years, I'm back with a 911, a 991.1 C4S to be precise

Hello fellow rennlisters, it has been many years since I last posted with life taking some interesting turns to say the least! A short summary of my porsche ownership and pictures of my latest "new to me" purchase of a 991.1 C4S! I can post pictures of my other cars for anyone interested.

- My first porsche was a 981 Boxster S, great car
- Second P car was a 991.1 GT3 in Saphire blue- what else needs to be said. I used this car as my DD
- Traded that for 991 Turbo- Loved that car too, though very different from the GT3 of course.

All three cars where totally different experiences for me and while life was taking some twists and turns, to put it mildly, I had to take a break from the Porsche obsession. I still did check in on rennlist from time to time and actually was planning to go backward in the model line up, looking at 997 C4 GTS and 997 C4S's. I did find a couple of 997 C4's I liked but for a real GTS specked the way I wanted and acceptable miles, they were going out of budget. While I loved my turbo, I did not want another turbo car as my next car, so I started looking at C4S's in the 991.1 variety and found some great examples. One in particular, I was trying to pull the trigger, literally trying to give my down payment over the phone but unfortunately, the salesperson was totally unethical and said "I will be right back with the paper work" and then sold it to another person mins later who walked into the showroom. Never had such a scum bag move happen but that's a whole other story that I don't want to muck up what ended up being a very positive experience with Porsche Southpoint in Durham NC. Where I got a better car that was CPO'd at a better price with the two-year warranty. I can't speak highly enough of my experience there and the awesome sales gentlemen I worked with to get the deal put together. We did the entire deal over the phone within 2-3 hours, literally just mins after the other scum bag dealer screwed me over. So it all ended for the best. They overnighted the paperwork, which we signed and sent back and that was that. Currently and sadly I should add, I'm located in FL, so we drove the 8 hours up to NC two days ago with our trade in and drove back yesterday with the new car!

Key options this car had for me, besides being a C4S, are; sports chrono, PSE which sounds great, much better than I expected, pretty close to my GT3 surprisingly!.

More to come and feel free to ask any questions bearing in mind I have only had the car for two days! Impressed myself with the quality of these pics coming from an iphone!

Sweet progress of cars. Interested in what you will have to say on GT3 VS Turbo VS C4S once you get a bit of seat time in this!!

Congrats and enjoy!! Beautiful ride.

Thank you, these last few years without a 911 have felt like an eternity. It's a 2014, I would have chosen any year before the 991.2 came out which I recall was somewhere around 2017.

I still very much would like to get a C4GTS at some point but for now I am just so grateful to have been able to get back in this beautiful C4 and am excited fo explore it and put some miles on it.

I am pleasantly surprised how damn good the sports exhausts sounds, I was not expecting that. Not sure if I will be doing anything to it, maybe the headers and hi flow cats that I see some of you doing but other than that I don't think I will be changing out any of the mufflers for aftermarket.

Also, the car is surprisingly quick after launching it a handful of times already. I felt I needed to slow down with the higher horsepower 500+ HP cars and while I am sure I may itch for an extra 50 or so HP down the line. But as for now, I like the lower power and less chances of ending up in jail.

I tracked the hell out of all my cars besides the turbo and I look forward to doing the same with this car. I know I won't be able to drive it as hard as the GT3 but it should be more than capable.

Did you go PDK or Manual on this one?

Thank you sir!

For sure, just need to get some seat time in this beast. I want to still experience a GTS and I want to get back into the 997's and 993 and 964's. I have a lot of cars to still experience! But I can tell this car suits me really well and I love AWD. I'm that guy who puts winter tires on my Porsche's and drives them throughout the winter, atleast when I was living out in the midwest. Here in FL, just rain but still I am a fan of AWD in 911's and the feel it has on the steering and the way the car hooks up and pulls out of corners.

I would have gone manual if I could have found one and was 100% going to manual if I went with 997. But I was not opposed to the PDK having loved it in the past and knowing my wife would at times be "allowed" to drive this car and would feel more comfortable with the PDK.

I'm amazed how selfless I can be at times.

It doesn't get much sexier than the rear end of wide body 911!

And thank you.

I can relate to wanting to experience them all haha.

I owned a few 997s, but after trying out 1-2 991s next definitely want to start working backwards through the 911s, including a 997 GT3 of sorts.

Have fun with the new one and post up more pictures!
