Default 991 Temperature Gauges

Does anyone here use the analog temp gauges on their 911?

I can say I never glance at them since the digital display is more convenient/centered.

I monitor the analog water temp gauge since the digital readout is limited to 194 degrees. Pretty useless not to have a higher reading.

It will come out of the deadband if it gets above 220F, I have seen it do that with desert tracking.....

Good to know! I've always noticed it stable around 189-194 but did not notice it was capped.

Wonder why they'd do such a thing!?

Dead band from 185 to 220F is to keep people from worring about small shifts in water temp.
Just watch the oil temp.....

Water temp will regularly move up to 208+/- after hard acceleration and come down after a minute or so of relaxed driving. Oil temps don't move around much.

I keep the battery voltage, compass, time to intermediate destination, and altitude on my right screen since these aren't anywhere else.

I do, I scan needle positions frequently - aviation habits come in handy sometimes.

Alfitude can also be found on on the screens under CAR on the PCM. Its the one with max speed.

Are you sure? Complete opposite here (and for many others). I think you have your gauges mixed up. Check. Please report back.

Oil temp gauge is VERY dynamic. Moves up and down, depending on load and environment.

Water temps gauge moves up quickly. Stops a 194. And never changes while driving at full operating temp.

probably to stop folks from visiting the dealer when 212 or higher is reached.

my car had a working gauge and then it was capped after a computer update
