Default If you could choose a 991.2 tuning package or make your own?

I took a 17k budget without shipping, tax or installation. I have followed Fabspeed for 10 years now and looked forward to the day I could work with them. On the other hand friends are telling me Akrapovik is the best sounding exhaust on a 911 and with a Cobb expert tune... We are also hoping to work a deal where we road trip to whomever for the install. They can dyno and video away part by part if they want. This whole thing is a life dream come true. After 26 years in the fire service I am retiring. The car and the road trip is the gift for us.

What kind of package would you put together if you could? Knowing you would travel to where you bought it for the install? We live in Seattle and want to stay in National park lodges as we go. Any advice welcome!

Vivid Racing although I would live to go direct to Fabspeed too. All except the Dsc V3 who is from DSC. About 15.1K or $1800 less

COBB Tuning about 16.9K

I can’t chime in because I am happy with the car in stock form.

whatever you do, keep us posted. Seems like you will have a fun project in the near future. Get yourself a good radar detector. Radenso Theia will likely be pretty awesome if it ever comes out.

TIAL Intercoolers, APR programming and DSC controller. No need for headers, cats or exhaust. I'd only do the filter if you are taking the bumper off for the intercoolers.

If you want a great deal on TIAL intercoolers and the BMC filter I will hook you up. I have both brand new in box that I did not install. Bought a 992. For the install I would recommend Achtuning in Redmond, WA. They also do the APR programming.

The TIAL intercoolers are the finest on the market. They are manufactured in Southern CA using direct metal laser melting (DLLM) also known as 3D metal printing. The process allows for both design and performance without the limitations and compromises of traditional manufacturing.

Thank you! Will do. Went with the Escort Max 360C and the Blendmount setup.

Blendmount with DashCam Mount for Escourt on a hard wire tap to fuse box.

I am always in the market for a great deal! Especially now. I appreciate it. Interested in both the IC’s and filter. Please PM details. I just had the APR flashed by Kelly at Achtuning. I like it however it’s one and done. There is no stage two according to Andrew Comacho at APR as of a few days ago. I’m thinking about using the 30 day return and going with one that is geared for all that I will be doing. Congrats on the 992!

I would spend that quite differently.

TiAL intercoolers, intake pipes, and turbo inlets, all of which will drop temps and improve efficiency. The exhaust is fine as is, but if you want more sound, I’d purchase Speedtech or AWE catalysts as they use larger diameter cores.

if you don’t have a GTS, I would upgrade to those turbos.

You’ll make substantially more power than fabspeed is offering, and much more top end.

I second this.

At which point you could do the APR stage 3 tune and save money over a custom map.

There was a post yesterday about the loudest (best sounding?) exhaust package possible. Listed by most bang for your buck, it went: 1. cat, 2. headers, 3. muffler.

The muffler from Akra has an incremental benefit for sure, but it’s not the most impactful change you can make and it eats up a huge portion of the budget. $5k+ could be used to high effect elsewhere.

If it were my budget, I’d go:
TiAL inlets
TiAL intercoolers
Vector Performance headers
Soul/AWE sport cats
(And assuming the car isn’t already a GTS)
GTS turbos
Stage 3 APR tune

Ex-turbos and tune, I think this would be around $10k plus install.

Then add the DSC box and some suspension bits to improve handling and round out the build.

This. All in, without labor it will run about 15k. I am sure if you purchase through the same shop and have them install it can be within your budget and will put you well into the high 500s on 93 or 600s on e85

There is no stage II, because the APR Stage I already makes more power than anyone else's Stage II and APR has determined through real world instrumentation and testing that there is no need to commit a crime against the environment and change your catalysts.

APR has a Stage III for the 991.2, it involves a turbo upgrade, for the Stage III+ you need to upgrade the intercoolers and the OEM units are prone to heat soak. There is also a Stage III++ in the works for aftermarket upgraded turbos such as TIAL.

IMO the best bang for the buck is going to be Stage III++ where you do the APR programing, TIAL intercoolers, TIAL hybrid turbos and TIAL inlets. That combination with net 600WHP on pump gas and 650WHP on ethanol for under $9000.

Emailed apr asking about it. Thank you. That does sound like the best way to go.

It's all relative. A V6 Toyota Camry is a hyper rocket vs the 70hp diesel Mazda2 I drove in Europe a long time ago. On the flipside, I just watched a video of a Nissan GTR making around 2100whp that did a 60-130 time of 2.55 seconds. It takes 600whp in a GTS to get under 8.0.

Money and power are two things that most people can't have enough of. Besides, tinkering with cars is a hobby for many car enthusiasts. I'm very content with my modded GTS at the moment but may entertain ICs in the future.
BTW, that Godzilla is crazy powerful and fast!

like any addiction it takes more and then more to get high. It’s best if you leave now before you get hooked. Can I have your parts?😂. Seriously though for me it’s so many things. There are different groups to race in based on what has been done to the car. Ideally I am going to be modding mine and participating in the build. And l want to help others build theirs however they want as my knowledge and experience grows. It’s part of making it mine, a more unique car, having fun in the process, being OCD, so many things. It’s enthusiasm for the sport.
