Serpentine belt and tensioner needed to be replaced. Showed signs of cracking and tensioner was leaking. Here’s the picture from the mechanic. Total cost was about $750 (not a Porsche dealer).

was it dripping coolant? belt supposed to be changed at 6 year mark?

yes, inspect at 40K/4 years and replace at 60k/6 years. I have over 100k on my 50th Anniversary and I hav changed the belt twice at the replace interval because spark plugs/air filters are due at the same belt inspection interval so it is worth just replacing at 40K/4 year.

makes sense!!
Oddly for 991.2, the 6 year service has belt alone. Makes sense to do it with the air filter since your almost at it anyways.

Dripping coolant is not related to a cracked drive belt or a leaking tensioner.

he mentioned tensioner was leaking. Wouldn't it leak coolant? Vs oil?

I haven't had mine fail yet, but on other cars the fluid in them is an oil. Acts as a damper to handle vibratory oscillations.

It wasn’t dripping, but whatever fluid is contained inside the wheel was leaking. You can sort of see it in the picture. It was noticed on a regular service interval. I was well past the six year mark and it should have been done sooner. (I bought the car when it was just turning eight.) The mechanic had previously told me it was the original but was in good shape at the time.

I was speaking with a very experienced indy mechanic today who mentioned that he's never seen bore scoring with a 991. Rest assured.

inside door panel separation from window 9both sides) on 991.1 ; 991.2 and perhaps 992.
there is a FB dedicated to solutioning this issue. See Pedro in Florida. He has had great success with repairing. Door cards replacement gives temporary solution however due to glue and door structure will occur again. Pedro has been the best overall solution. I have notified an official who works for PCNA and lives in my area. He stated he would look into this issue. Its a very big issue.

At 10,000 miles my 2015 C2S had a scored bore so PCNA replaced my engine in 2016.

2017 911 sit 2 Service Information

This is the first I remember hearing about bore scoring in the 9A91 engine. Are you a .1? I think so.. Were there other factors? How was the gas mileage before this happened? Anything to indicate fouled injectors? DI is the root cause. The reason for the .1 question is that Porsche moved the injector more central in the .2 bore. The injectors are blowing off the cylinder oil film if they get dirty, poor gas, etc.

Since the forum allows for it, I suggest that we also make use of the SUBJECT field in the the reply form, as to better identify the issue being reported.

{edit} Please also start your post with Year-Model-Trim of you car.

As a new 991.2 owner, I will followup shortly with the issues into which I’ve run and will post a dedicated reply for each, not a list in a single reply.

I’m hoping for a constructive collaboration from most of you.

i have tech manual and another doc listing all codes with definitions if i can figure out how to attach

two common issues i see / read from folks all around the world are
1- door cards . There is an excellent shop in Florida which can repair. Only one i have seen which does a like new fix
2- PDK transmission- root cause is the sensors

all other issues i have read are not common but more one off here and there
