Default Frunk Latch Campaign

2019 991.2 C2S. Porsche has a recall on the forward trunk latch. Done when I brought the car in for an oil change and brake flush among other things. 2019 Porsche issued a recall for the forward Boxter frunk latches due to a luggage compartment bracket that could puncture the fuel tank in certain collision instances. 911s we’re not recalled but I wonder if the 718 recall was a reason.

Default 2013 991.1 waterpump service unexpected issues

For preventaive mait. It was time to do water pump Feb 2022. Car has 45k miles and never been done. I'm orgioanl owner of car since new in 2013. Did waterpump, thermostat, belt, Idler pully, tension roller, hyrolic tensioner. Made sense don't all while in there save on labor. All went well but mechanic who is certified by porsche has prolbems for days getting air out to get correct amount of coolant in. Took 3 days getting car up to temp then proper 1.5hr cool down then try to burp it again and flush over and over. I persoanlly went to shop and saw it all happening day after day. Finally figured out new thermostat (I even saw new in package) ended up being faulty not letting coolant flow proper and didn't throw any codes trial and error we figured this out, so after this was replaced the coolant got in easier and air burped out. Took a week in total and should of been a 2 day job.

2016 991.1 GTS cab. I love the car and just today, I crossed 49,000 miles on it. But I have had my share of issues over the years (in no particular order):

PCM failure (replaced under warranty).

Gas tank liner failure, leading to squeaking when the tank was more than half full. Took a long time to convince Porsche that there was a squeak but once I was able to replicate it in their presence and show them that it was a known issue, they took care of it.

Windshield spray nozzle plastic piece broke. Replaced under warranty.

Cabriolet top came apart at the seam. Replaced under warranty.

Driver's side seatbelt started to fray. Replaced under warranty.

The Burmester speaker on the driver's side, in the dash, was faulty. Replaced under warranty. Unfortunately, there has been a rattle emanating from the area ever since and every time I take the car in, Porsche poo poo's me as they drive the car without me in it. The next time, I will demonstrate the rattle for them.

There is something loose in the driver's side door so when I come to a stop, it sounds like a piece of plastic is moving forward within the door. This too has been brought up to Porsche and they have poo poo'd this as well. They tell me that they do not address rattles if it is not a safety issue. My response to them is: What if a portion of the door falls off, is that not a safety concern?

The rear window does not always come up when I put the cab top up. It goes back and forth several times and then goes back down. Very annoying. Again, Porsche poo poo'd this and said everything is working fine, nothing to see here.

The last three issues I will continue to (try to) address with Porsche South Bay. Unfortunately, I am now out of warranty and pretty much stuck having them trying to fix the issues that were present when the car was in warranty. I'd rather go elsewhere, if I could. I bought the car from DTLA but South Bay is much closer to home. For those in LA, I would highly suggest avoiding Porsche South Bay for maintenance. I can go on and on about the comedy of errors that I have dealt with at Porsche South Bay.

i had thought Porsche had fixed these pumps by 2018. My 2019 so far so good but now I’m thinking Porsche had not.

Did Porsche install the same design or change anything?

Unhappy Beverage Holder

2015 991.1 Carrera 3.4l MT, 2nd owner. Original owner must have had sticky beverage spill from cup holder. Radio was functional, CD player and GPS NOT.
Took to local dealer & was informed the unit “must have been shorted by liquid spill”, PNA would not repair/replace unit even under warranty at 7,500 miles,
(2017). Replacement cost $4,800 (rebuilt unit). My advice, do not use cup holders!

For those out of warranty, 2012-2019 < 80k miles, 991 911's qualify for a the highest level of protection from Freedom Warranty, comparebale to Fidelity Platinum, you're looking at around $4,500 for 5 years / up to 100k miles (additional 25K miles for only $400), repairs accepted at all Porsche dealers in North America, covered for up to $275 an hour in labor, only $100 deductible, 0% financing is available. This is a great way to get out our of warranty 991, still taken care of at the dealer, thought a process as painless as the original factory warranty.

You can reach me at (855) 924-1333 or tgibson@highline-autos.com with any questions, or if you're interested in viewing an example contract.

I understand the water pump was improved within the 2018 vintage. Some cars have the improved, some the former. I assume dealer replaced with the improved version.
