Default Cleaning Satin Black Finish Wheels

I have a 2019 GTS with satin black center lock wheels and I am having a heck of a time trying to get them clean. I have tried Sonax and Griot's cleaners but there still is a brown tint to them from some type of dirt - I don't believe it is brake dust. A couple of products were recommended but they all could damage the metal finishes in the braking system, etc. so now I am stuck. Went to my local dealer and the guy in charge of detailing said he has run up against the same problem and hasn't found a solution other than putting some kind of glossy finish on them which hides the issue. Any thoughts?

I have the same issue. Forget about it and enjoy the car.

Have you rinsed, foamed, brushed, rinsed, iron remover, brushed, foamed, brushed, rinsed?

Have them ceramic coated after you get them clean.

My Carrera 4 GTS now has nearly 12,000 miles. In the two years I've owned it I've tried all kinds of products on the black wheels and was not satisfied. Some time ago I tried Purple Slice which is a very popular product for Harleys and motorcycles. My wheels now look brand new.

What the hell is Purple Slice???

Your wheel look great. I use Dr. Beasely's Matte wheel seal. It's pretty good but always looking for something better.

I had mine OptiCoated and they were a lot easier to clean, and looked great when clean, but they would not stay that way for long - they started to accumulate that nasty brownish film right away.

Humm, my satin black wheels look as good as new with just weekly ( if she’s not sleeping in the garage) wash using Dawn dishwashing soap and a little elbow grease. Dont need anything else.

Keep us updated.....Bought my "50" 18 months ago with 2,000 miles and the barrels were already gone (10K now,so it's worse). I keep loosing "points" because of that pesky brown/grey coating.

I had a Cayman with the black wheels previously and I had good luck with the Chemical Guys Diablo Gel. It's concentrated, so you need to dilute in a spray bottle.

I have GTS wheels and I just use p21s.

The brown/rust colour is from brake dust. Best not leave it sit for too long or it’ll etch the finish.

My wheels/car are washed weekly at a min.

I have the same center lock wheel on my Targa. I had them ceramic coated when new. They get dusty but clean up nicely with a high pressure water rinse. You can use a wheel buffer after rinsing if you want but I generally don't.
