I installed a new Duracell battery a couple of weeks ago after experiencing slow starts and auto start/start ceased to work. My voltmeter at the time was showing 15-15.3 at the time. Now it is still showing 15.0 in both sport and normal modes. Seems like I do indeed need a reset of the charging system? What is the cheapest device that I can use for this? I already have a durametric (which does lots of stuff but not this function) so low cost as long as it covers this function is what I want. What would be even better is a device that could also work on my Audi.

Does your auto start/stop work now with the new battery? I would go for a long drive (>30 min) to see if the charging voltage drops. You may also want to top it off using C-tek. Your "new" battery could've been discharged during storage. It may also have something to do with your cold weather, not battery health.
Thanks but I have driven a few hundred miles since install and was hoping to see the voltage drop but no such luck. Also it has not been all too cold here in MA since then. Most days I have driven were 40's and 50's. 28 degrees last night and still consistently at 15.0 no matter the ambient temp. *** started working again immediately after I installed the new battery.
Thank you! I have some basic skills. I would not classify myself as a DIY'er. However, it just seemed crazy to pay $600 full retail for a battery and a recode when I could buy the battery for $231. Do I really need to recode?
The Porsche "book" charge for a battery replacement is one hour. The Porsche billing rate in my area, Md, is $170 an hour. So your total charge should be around $400, if a Porsche tech installs the battery. An indy's charge will be less.
I recently changed my battery
it was very easy
I did have to reprogram the windows
i did not use a tender
BUT - how are you all seeing the voltage?
i don't see that in any of my instrument clusters or options?
🤓
Yo can customize your display. Just toggle through the menu options and you will come across voltage display. Moreover, you may also find other items that you may want to display, other than the factory default settings.

Hmm, I see. Perhaps you should consider registering your new battery so the charging profile can be changed, I heard that the new iCarsoft has a menu for registering a new battery if you don't want it done at the dealer.

I don't know how much difference recoding for the new battery will make, but 15V for temps in the 40s doesn't sound unreasonable. It doesn't have to be very cold for the system to charge at higher rates - below 65 F in my experience. The temp sensor is at the negative battery terminal clamp so there may take a while for the system to recognize a warm up if the car sat outside or in an unheated garage over night.
It is going to be a record breaking 65f on Sunday and I will be driving 120 miles that day. I will see if charging voltage drops or not. Crossing my fingers.
For others information. My battery has been showing signs of distress. It's the original to the car and 3.5-4 years is standard in Phoenix as the heat is death on batteries.
Originally went to local parts store (Autozone) to minimize off battery time but they did not have part number so I had to pull battery and take to them. The 991.1 instructions work fine. It's an easy job. 10-15 minutes.
Took battery to Autozone. Almost immediately the guy there identified the battery. I replaced with a duralast platinum H7-AGM although I could have used the gold version. $200 OTD. My sense from them was that the H7 battery is a very common size.
It fit into car perfectly and installed fine. Cranks great. I lost no setting or information on the car that I can tell including all driving histories. I generally drive in sport + so I can't tell about the stop/start. I will not be sad if that feature is not working for some reason.
*update* stop/start back with a vengeance. Tonight I drove in standard mode and stop/start was working fine.
