Interesting article about 911 generations

I bet the only thing anyone could agree on is a 996 at the bottom, lol.
I was a fan the day the 996 came out, defending it on the forums, even while I drive an 88 G50 Targa. No, the AC wasn’t really that good. The 964 was the car that made AC actually reliable. Back 15 years ago, the 993 was on top and the 964 was on bottom.
Ranking 911s has got to be a most impossible job in a world where a 911 - regardless of model - has been a top 5 best sports car on the planet for generations.

I actually agree. The 996 (especially when considering the price) is neck and neck with the 964 on my list and just behind the 993. I know some will consider that heresy but personal taste is always subjective.

For me the 993 is the best looking 911, with the 991 a close second. What puts the G Series ahead in driving feel is that the 993 has power steering. G Series is original 911 purity in its most evolved state. I have owned 915 and G50 equipped 911s and a G50 is such an improvement over the 915 I can't even imagine saying the 915 drives fine. But to each their own.
Agree on the 993 vs 3.2. I think the 993 is probably also the best looking 911. Owned both the Carrera and the turbo version. Driving wise it’s basically also no contest.

I have had the unbelievable good fortune to own many P cars. My favorite continues to be my 1988 911.
No power steering, no power brakes, sweet G50 with 3.2 power is a pure driving machine.
Each car is unique and drives different. But never bored of the sounds and feedback of the 1988 911.

That’s why I really can’t take this one to seriously. Putting 991.1 and .2 in the same “991” category. That about summarizes the level of detail and depth of the article. Nice follow up discussion however ... ;-)
