Default Road noise - new to 991.1

Just picked up a 2013 C2 3.4 Base. Has only about ~20,000 miles on it.

Car came with Pzeros - took it out for a quick spin in below minus temps - massive amounts of tire noise, due to low temps so I thought.

Switched tires to brand new Michelin Pilot Aplin PA4 N1 Porsche spec, tires in OEM size. Drove it home - same noise.

As the car gains speed, the noise increases. Drones out the exhaust noise - thats how loud it gets. Sounds like winter tire noise x 5.

What could this be? Bad wheel bearings? Bad drive shaft? Something worse and more sinister? Car drives perfectly fine otherwise. No vibrations in steering wheel or seats. Steering wheel does dart a little in road imperfections.

Your input would be greatly appreciated!

Are you driving on nice new asphalt, or scored cement roadway? Makes a huge difference in tire noise...

Mixed roads - new asphalt, old asphalt, cement - smooth rough. All sounds the same

If it all sounds the same then it can't be tire noise... would have to hear the character of the noise to hazard a guess on it's source.

It's a sport car. You get free road noise.

Droning or NVH noise could be from after-market motor or transmission mounts.

Yes, coarse road surfaces are downright unpleasant for more than a few seconds. The Pzeros my car had when I got it were at least a year old and were very noisy. I replaced them with MPS4S and the noise levels are much more reasonable now....but this car is not quiet.

Bad wheel bearing noise can resemble tire road noise. It should be easy to check with the car on a lift.
