I notice a huge difference in road noise based on ambient temps and tire pressures. The only time the car is truly quiet is smooth pavement, 70 deg plus, and comfort pressures. Upgraded stereo was a waste of $. Want quiet get a Lexus 😎

My 991.2 T on PS4’s has a little less tire noise than my 981 had.

I am not sure what makes more noise though. (Cold Pirelli’s or winter tires).

I would have everything checked including the CV joints.

Your video took me 25 years back to college when my best friend had a Jeep Wrangler with 33" BF Goodrich Mud Terrains. We would go down to the beach a few hours away and always got there with a massive headache. He is now driving a Lexus ES 350. LOL

Back on topic... You could eliminate the road noise theory by lifting the car and letting the wheels spin freely. If the sound is not there, then you can say tires are the culprit.

My car had a very similar noise. Took it to the dealership, and turned out I had a bad wheel bearing and a torn cv boot. Replaced both and the noise is gone. For reference, I have a 2013 c4 with the same Michelin snow tires. Good luck!

That being said - the Pzeros are terrible. Snow tires also are not very good for road noise. Adjusting to the right pressure does make a huge difference though.
Me too - but will try adjusting pressures again.

Pzeros are gone - currently have Michelin Pilot Aplin PA4 Nspec - made no difference in sound - still loud humming which increases as the speed increases.

I honestly think its a similar problem as to what you had.

Im assuming the Bridgestone’s you’re referring to are the Potenza RE980AS - Ive used these on my E63 AMG S. Good tire, but I didn't find them any quieter than Pirelli Sottozero Serie II I had on my previous Cayman.

This noise is the loudest Ive experienced in any car Ive owned; one which has remained after changing from new summer tires (the Pirellis that came with the car are brand new) to new, very well rated Michelin winter tires.

Can you or a passenger isolate the noise as coming from the front or rear, left or right, or one corner of the car?

Took it to my buddy Jag at JMP Motors this morning - he has done work on a lot of my previous cars.

We took it out for a drive and isolated the noise to the rear, but was hard to tell if it was left or right. Lifted the car up when we got back - he confirmed right-rear wheel bearing failure - I felt the vibration while he turned the wheel - didn't even need a stethoscope. Left rear was fine.

Part(s) ordered - scheduled for install next week Tuesday. I will try to take pictures of the process, if anyone's interested.

Well given Jags expertise, my intuition, and this forms help, we’re sure its just that. But you never know with these things. Going to get our hands dirty Tuesday morning and see what comes out; will keep you good folk posted.
