Default Hey 991.2 Targa 4 owners

Do you secretly wish you would have gotten a Targa 4S & why?

I'm looking at new 4S's now& came across the PERFECT build in a 4.

Temped to slide into the 4, however the brake dust on the base sucks & the etra HP on the S would be nice.

The Targa is the heaviest, fattest 991.

Can't speak to a 991.2 base, but I drove a 991.1 Targa 4 and was not inspired.

Would strongly consider Cobbing a Base if went down that route.

I never drove the base car. my GTS feels very fast and powerful enough. as the previous poster said, because the targa is the heaviest, the power of the s or gts as well as the bigger brakes could be a better buy.

Good point. I have 4 builds in front of me now trying to decide.
Do the red / bigger calipers emit less brake dust?

probably not. bigger brakes means bigger pads means more dust.

Which is why I swapped my Reds for PCCBs. You can always get a set of low dust pads, such as the Centric Posiquiet. I will agree though that if you do not mind tuning a base car could be a good deal.

I drove the 991.2 Targa 4 base and the Targa 4S back to back on a technical track (less straight aways and more curves with elevation changes) before ordering my Targa. I chose the base for a few reasons; the strongest being that the 4S performance mostly pulled a tiny bit harder on the straight away. They were both beautiful and equal at braking, cornering and accelerating under the conditions I set out to compare the two versions.

There is a full thread dedicated to discussing "when 370HP is enough". For me, I live and drive in one of the least populated but very scenic area of Eastern maritime Canada. Imagine single lane roads that switchback down into oceanside villages and then rapidly climb back up to cliff top vistas. There are no interstates to blast onto; just a couple single lane highways supporting hundreds of miles of coastal back roads. The pavement is mostly pristine, but the opportunity to drive at high speed in a straight line is rare. For me, the base was my engine of choice. In full disclosure, I ordered it with every performance option except the pdk. Handling was paramount. I also succumbed to full leather w/acid green deviating stitching and some factory CXX options. I built this car for the roads less driven; my vision of a true working 911. I couldn't be happier. If I move to a metropolis someday... I might install a tune for the new driving environment.

For now, here on these roads, the Targa 4 is a blast to wind out in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. You are all welcome to come visit.

Targa 4 is the perfect balance. IMHO I find it more fun to drive than the 4S or GTS.

Love my Targa 4 and my only questionable decision when ordering it was not adding sport chrono (MT). That said, more seat time in my GTS in Florida has caused me to consider the possibility of flashing the Targa down the road.

Yes you do. Annoying, isn’t it. I however did not learn my lesson and failed to order PCCBs when I traded. My bad.

My SA talked me out of ordering PCCBs but I was able to get them after the fact and there are fantastic:

Icebreaker, beautiful car! Do you drive it year round in the Canadian winters? Snow tires? I live in MI and am considering trading my DD in for a targa 4 to drive year round.

While we’re waiting for a response from Icebreaker ... I sold my winter car (S3) and am driving my Targa 4 in the winter on 19” wheels and snow tires. We can get a fair amount of snow so I’m not sure how much snow plowing I’ll do with the front end but certainly don’t need more power this time of year.
