Even though my sales person recommended I add a sunroof to my build when ordering due to resale concerns down the road, I stuck to my own and ordered without. I
generally like sunroofs in most cars that I have as I like the extra light they let in. That said, while I used to always have them opened while driving, I don’t seem to much at all anymore. The sunroof in my Macan also rattles (a lot!). My main reasoning though was, for me, my purpose was to track the car a lot and I didn’t want the extra weight up top. I like taking my young kids out for drives too, so the backseat was needed, or it would have been a GT3. (I’m fully aware that at my level, the extra weight up top is a ridiculous thing to worry about... that was just my thought process and we all worry about really silly/insignificant details on all of these cars!).

I've always preferred a sunroof and was glad when I found the GTS I bought was spec'd with a glass one. I love the look of it slid back over the top, as opposed to the more common (nowadays), inside the roof.
My M2 had no sunroof and I have to say, I missed not having one. I really felt closed in for a bit. Though I rarely slide them all the way back, I do pop them all the time.

i like the extra light from my glass roof but worry about rattles and creaks and leaks. i never open it. ideal for me would be a fixed glass roof. extra light and no squeaks leaks rattles. with a manual sunshade not electric less things to break.

Why put a hole through a perfectly good roof? Less weight, complexity and like someone said, no creaks/squeaks/leaks.

I don't use them (maybe a handful of times/year) in the cars I have with sunroof. Ordered mine specifically without it.

I never use it. Doesn't bother me that it is there since I have plenty of headroom in a 911 anyway, but many cars I prefer no sunroof do the extra room you get.

I ordered my GTS without a sunroof. They make zero sense to me on a sports car, but that's just me. I actually wouldn't have one on any vehicle, but it is pretty much impossible to find an SUV on a lot w/o at least one. My current SUV is a '17 GMC with sunroof, and after almost 3 years it has never been opened.

I actually wouldn't buy a used sports car, no matter how good, if it had a sunroof.

I really don’t miss a sunroof.

I'm not a sunroof fan for most cars and I don't really use them in my other cars. But in my 911, I open it up on a nice day to let the sunshine in and listen to that beautiful flat six engine.
I’ve only had one 991, but really enjoy the sunroof, and also have had zero issues. Mine is steel, so it matches the body color and blends in. I prefer it over glass and would not buy a Porsche without it. Most dealers will tell you your car will be hard to resell without one.

This is a polarizing topic to start with, but FWIW - When I tried to order a car in late 2017 there was an allocation shortage. I ended up buying slightly used and got nearly everything I wanted but some things I would not have ordered, including a glass sun roof. I've tried it to make sure it works, but all I have now is the equivalent of a bag of sand riding along on my roof.

I'm curious... How many of those complaining about sunroof weight actually track their cars? Isn't that the only time it really matters?

Very few I would guess. I get the same about my Targa, and while there was a little more body roll before I added a DSC, it was not what people here make it out to be. There are probably more here that could lay off the double cheesburgers in regards to extra weight.

It's extra weight to accelerate and slow down, worse still it's at the top of the car, and I personally didn't want it. In non-sunny places perhaps it's useful, it was nice in the UK for example.

The DSC helped my Targa tremendously so it will help a car with a sunroof - very little roll, squat or dive, and I rarely eat cheeseburgers.

PDCC? I was going to say it should be a combined option with a sunroof! And that tune you're thinking of will make you totally forget the targa weight
