This was my free service and I am asked them (Jacksonville Porsche, formally known as Brumos) what the cost would be if it was not: $375 + tax and $12 per quart if I wanted 5/50 instead of the 0/40 bulk fill.

What year is your car? My dealer used my 5w50 on my ‘14 as it was listed in the manual. They refused to use my 5w50 on my ‘19 T recently as 5w50 is not listed in the owner’s manual.

I have a 2019. When I requested that I wanted 5/50 when I made the appointment they asked why and I told them and they said ok, but when I got there they said it was a lot more expensive than the bulk 0/40 they get and implied I may have to pay the difference. However, I showed them the attached and they agreed that 5/50 is recommended: see page 1 and 8.

By the way, it is about 200ml per bar on the MFD, right? I think I plan to add a little.

2017 991.2 GTS here - exact same problem. Sent audio of start up to my service manager, brought the car in - all normal. Had oil analysis done by Blackstone and report came back with a clean bill of health. So, while it worries me, I've documented the problem with my dealer, so it's in my record in case I have problems post warranty as others have also done. Scares the crap out of me as sometimes it's louder than others.

This evening was the first time out after a cold start with the fresh 5/50 and the engine sounds much more quiet and even my wife was surprised that it made so much of a difference. I topped her up and the final fill came out to be about 8 quarts plus all but 300 mls of the 9th. And since I had the top down it sounded better that way as well!

Well, I have 2,850 miles on my car, I only drive about 1300 miles per year, it sits 5-10 days between drives. I would get some lifter noise at start up with the M1 0-40 and every once in a while some light smoke for a couple seconds, switched to M1 5/50 and no more noise, no smoke and the oil temp seems to run a bit cooler. Either way, I sold on the M1 5/50.
