Default Squeaky seatbelt

My searbelt, after latched, making squeaky noise as my body moves, or i can just make the noise by wiggling it. Can i just spray some lubricant into the latch without shorting any circuit? It's not the noise where the latch touch the seat, it's inside the latch.

Thx

There's a high likelihood that it actually IS caused by rubbing against the seat. I, like you, was convinced it was a problem in the latch itself. My dealer was quite aware of this noise as a common complaint and showed me that the noise was coming from rubbing the seat in spite of my insistence that it was an internal buckle problem. They applied felt tape to the back of the buckle (warranty covered). This largely solved the problem.

You are right. I went down to the car and check again. I had felt tape on the buckle but this time I put a sheet of cloth in between and it stop.

thx

Yep, it is the buckle. Wrapping the buckle in felt didn't quite do it for me, so on long drives, I stuff a microfibre towel between the seat and the buckle.

Same thing here. I put the smooth side of velcro on the part that contacts the seat, no more noise.

My solution: Self Adhesive felt pads. Kinda ticks me off that a $130k car needs a $2.99 solution to get this right, but so be it:

Seriously? If this was a Porsche solution you’d be moving that decimal point two places to the right. You should be ecstatic.

Yes @DaveGee , seriously. And no, I'm not ecstatic.

A VW Golf has a nice little piece of felt integrated into the seatbelt buckle where it meats the leather seat. A car at this price point should not require a hardware store DIY solution to a squeak that an economy car has solved. As I said, it's a minor annoyance, not a rant. But I think a fair observation.

Recently I had to replace the felt on the driver's side buckle of my 2016 GTS when the adhesive failed. I used a piece of Velcro (female side) tape cut to fit.

Both buckles originally have felt pads attached on the side facing the console, but they can come off after a while. There is no felt on the side facing the seat cushion. Here are pics of the driver's side buckle as sold by Porsche:

The squeak on mine was resonating through the buckle mechanism, so it actually sounded mechanical/metallic. I thought it was coming from the center console or dashboard for about a month until I found this thread. Helpful tips, this is the great part about these forums!

The heat shrink on my drivers buckle squeaks on the seat bolster.

I keep a handkerchief tucked between the buckle and seat for now. I just ordered felt tape to hopefully apply it in all the squeaks.

Tesa 51608 is made specifically for these applications.

I figure 1 foot of this tape cut up and applied in the right spots would have prevented all of these NVH squeaks.
