Don't need a crystal ball for that one. My wife has a 2017 Audi S8 and she always parks at a space closest to the store at which she stops. Lots of times you can open the door about a quarter of the way so as to not hit the door of the adjacent car. Nevertheless, her car is pristine. No dings or scratches anywhere.

im starting to see a trend here. I was at a parking lot charging my car and some girl (most likely high school student) parked so close to my car that i had to use tesla's summon feature to get my car in (no dings or scratches). Mind you the parking lot was completely empty with only a few cars around. Gave them a death stare when they came back but really wanted to key their car and slash their tires (most likely their caravan is their parents' car so i let it go).
I was at Disney yesterday with my newborn and some girl (probably 12-15 years old) started coughing next to us out of nowhere and it was deliberate (we're asians but not from China if that matters). Definitely makes me think twice about the education system and what they're teaching (or not teaching) the kids nowadays

What I don’t get with these auto-pahking systems...if you squeeze in your car with inches to spare aren’t you guaranteed door dings from the person next to you when they need to leave?

I disagree. Most people might be idiots or at best clueless and inattentive, but are not aware enough to be intentionally degenerate.
And college degrees have nothing to do with it. I have seen enough dimwits with degrees, including post-bachelors, who can't pour **** out of a boot--or drive.
