Putting OEM 991.2 GT3 front bumper on GTS OUCH!
Yes, OUCH!!!
What started out as a relatively cheap purchase, has blown out into the most expensive mod on my car. I bought the OEM 991.2 GT3 front bumper, for $3,000 EURO ($5,000 AUD) It was missing the front lip spoiler which i bough brand new for $520 AUD.
GT3 OEM Bar
$5,000 OEM GT3 bar
$2,000 Shipping
$1,000 Import duty and taxes.
$520 Front lip spoiler.
$8,520 Landed at my feet. Orange and it needs to be painted. (Spoiler alert this doubles)
$2,000 to have it painted inside and out like original.
My guy gets me a quote for additional pieces of ducting and hoses $2,650
$1,200 for a PWR centre radiator.
I think great a little labour and surely we are done? Wrong.
When we pull everything off, sure all the mounts are there and everything would fit perfectly except the Air con hard lines are in the way. The box that tunnels the airflow up and out the opening at the top, has to be mounted flush at the body. So the Air con hard lines need to be replaced with GT3 ones that take a different route. And you'll need to regas the air con and need a few other incidentals.
Then labour to do it all. The thing is everything was in Australia except the dam Air con lines. SO I have to wait another 2 weeks for those to show up.
So the entire front part of my car is 100% GT3. A huge task. People must just bolt the front bar on and leave a void and not do the centre radiator?
Thats won't cut it for me. I need true downforce and proper air flow. But I never thought it would run very close to $20K to have it all done.

I have always disliked the front bar on the GTS. Both my side radiators are heavily damaged. So upgrading to the GT3 front bumper has three benefits to me.
1. Mesh will protect new PWR radiators x 3
2. Proper aero with 12 kg of downforce at 100mpg vs 16kg of lift with GTS bar. 28 kg improvement.
3. It is the prettiest bar Porsche have ever made.

It’s not done yet. There are more extras to come. $20k is an estimate. It has surpassed $18k at this point.
oh I see I missed about $3,500 after the original $2,650 quote .For additional parts that were not shown. Whichbwas the basis of my rant. I had requested a quote for the final parts list which can back at $2,650. However when they pulled it all apart they discovered the issue with the air con lines and basically the need to remove all things GTS , and start fresh with all things GT3. It’s not that all the bits are superior, they are just rerouted so as not to interfere with the now exit of air upwards.
its been the mod that keeps taking.
i can joke now and say my car has extra power as it has GT3 air con. I told that joke to a mate with a GT3 and his first language is not English and he replied he is unhappy with his GT3 air conditioning. Hahaha

Yup, stop adding it up. My wife wanted to go solar, and I wanted a car port. I told her to go ahead and arrange it, just don't tell me the cost. So we got a package including whole timber Douglas fir beams from the pacific northwest. Looks good but don't ask how long the break-even point is.

So it just keeps getting bigger. I just had an update. The Horns have to be relocated as well. So either purchase a new wiring harness that is longer, or extend 4 wires.
The purpose of the post was to show those that want to do it, that it can be done, and it can be done well. It will actually be 100% factory. What impressed me is, all of the mounting pins are there in the body. The GT3 parts slide straight on like factory. Its almost as if this IS a GT3.
Which is my point. There is no such thing as a GT3. We all have 911's. They are all 911's beneath the surface. Just with a few different parts bolted on. The few that were bolted to mine, unbolt and I bolt on factory GT3 parts.
No drilling or cutting or welding. It is plug and play. So why didn't I just buy a GT3? Because I knew that deep down I did. N/a was great, but has had its day. I want power and torque. Now I will have the looks and the Aero of a GT3, but with more Power.
I really don't think anyone has done this before. I had read a couple of people claimed to have done it, but they never posted pics when asked. Therefore I think they just bought the bumper, and litterally unbolted the stock bumper and bolted this one one, leaving a huge void and no where for the air to go. And they obviously did not do the centre radiator.
I have seen guys do the Centre radiator on the GTS bar. There is a kit made for GTS, so nothing needs to move. But when doing a GT3 front bar, you need all the GT3 bits to make the air exit from the top, not the bottom.
Anyway, it is a huge task. I will be happy once it is done. I'm just impatient. Like everything, I want it now.
Don't get tricked into buying a cheap GT3 STYLE bumper. The correct exercise won't be cheap.

Oh man. I had considered getting GT3 bumper since I was having a scratch on my stock repaired. I am glad I decided against it.
Your car is going to look amazing though, best bumper in the business. I have GT smile envy.
