Default Engine Control Fault

I jinxed myself as I just wrote a few days ago that I have had zero issues with my car. Also, I am part way through my JD Powers survey, so just in time to edit that accordingly.

Anyway, I searched the forum as I could from my phone and didn’t find this. Does anybody have a clue what this is about? Apologies if this was posted before and thanks for your reply.

There’s a ton of posts on this subject. Use “COV” as a search engine. Or use google.

I remember your post Dan, that sucks but you brought it on yourself! What year is your car? Any other symptoms? Do you have heat?

It’s a 2017, it says that it can be driven. Probably a sensor. I am babysitting this weekend so will try to get at my computer when I can.

Probably not a COV but check your heater to see if it works.

Sorry, the reply went to the wrong post. I had the same warning on mine 3 times. The first 2 times it was diagnosed as a misfire on cylinders 5&6, but it had cleared itself. The third time, Porsche Germany had my dealer reprogram all the computers. Since then, nothing. Hope it stays away.

It’s weird, the car is running like a top. I have to be away on a biz trip but sill take it for service as soon as I can and report back.

Sometimes it's as simple as the gas cap not being on all the way.

When u get it in, tell them to check the mechanics forum. They wrote mine up. Good luck. And it’s not your gas cap!

Late last month I had the same fault display on my MFD. I immediately scanned the fault code which was P1433. I drove my vehicle to the local dealer where they spent 1 1/2 days checking every COV and hoses. They discovered the problem to be a faulty vacuum pump. The vacuum pump is mounted on the right rear bank of your engine. Since they had the rear bumper off I instructed them to replace the serpentine belt, tensioner and air filters. They also cleaned out the throttle body at no charge.

Defective Vacuum Pump.

Right - Bank Defective Vacuum Pump.

Old Air Filters.

New BMC Air Filters.

Thanks for this. It gives me something to talk to them about.

Will do, thanks. Hopefully this will be converted under warranty. They just stuffed me for $1500 for my 20K service, although I bought an extended service contract. They said it was only for two years. So I paid a couple of thousand for an oil change.
