I read the entire thread and have my original Porsche satin black wheels on my GTS and had another set powder coated by an indy. Both wheels are hard to make look good after cleaning, regardless of product. Wheel cleaner sprayed directly on the wheels after washing them with soap and water and wiped off immediately seemed to work quite well. But, my observation is gloss black powder coated wheels seem to clean up nicely, like the painted silver Porsche OEM wheels. Is that correct, or am I just hallucinating?

Would suspect you a right! If I had a choice, I would have opted for gloss and may actually have them re-powder coated when I need to change tires. Now the big questions is do I go with red or gloss black?

Gloss Black wheels will look as nice as the car's body since it is painted; however, do you ever wonder why you rarely see Gloss Black wheels on 911s? IMO they do not good...Corvette yes, Porsche no.

I loved the gloss black on my last 2 991s, although I love the satin platinum on my GT3

I agree with the two posts above. Satin is similar to matte black, and don’t use products on the wheels. Use only soap and water. It looks like whatever wheel cleaner you used stained the finish. My custom wheels were satin black and then I sprayed the wheel cleaner I use on all of my cars, but it damaged the finish on them. I had to refinished to gloss black. 10x easier to clean and looks better on my car.

CarPro Reload on clean satin black wheels provide a nice even sheen and makes them easier to clean the next time. Easy to apply and remove as well.

I'm going gloss next time. Thanks for the tip on the CarPro product - they make good stuff too.

I will second the Car Pro Reload. It works great on my Klassen black satin powder coated wheels. I love all of the Car-Pro products.

Dr. Beasley's Matte Sealer works very well on powder-coating wheel, exhaust tips, etc., which is what I use on non-ceramic coated pieces.

My Brixtons are Satin Black and I use the CarPro Reload on them. It does a great job as far as being a good product to allow easy wash & wipe for brake dust removal.
