Is there anyone that has upgraded the Bose system?
I am actually pretty impressed with the Bose stock system, but I am looking for juuuuuuuuust a little bit more bass.... Maybe to isolate the bass out...
Just wondering how hard it is to get that done and what options people have done to add in an amp and sub?

I added the tweeters and it makes a decent difference. Having written that, I now have a 2.5 hour commute one-way to my office in DC and I have yet to turn on the Bose.

Isnt that the radio? the stereo system?
Also, people are saying get the tweeters, but i am not trying to increase highs.... i am trying to separate out and increase the bass some

Yeah, it's weird, but to my ears the base is also better. Again, for my ears, when I cranked up the base, the music becomes muddled. With the Musicar tweeters and the base turned up, the midrange and high notes are clearer. I am not in any way an audiophile, but that's my experience. Check out the Musicar thread.

By far the best bang for the buck is Musicar tweeter upgrade and disconnecting the center dash speaker. Anything else is going to be more work and costlier but very doable. Look for Joec500’s thread for more extensive upgrade options.

Mount it on the back shelf, any decent Car Audio shop can run all the wires you need back there.

Then you need this:

You mount this unit under your passenger side seat, where the Bose AMP is located and just tap into your full range signal coming out of the BOSE amp then run the RCA's back to your powered sub.

Relatively easy, non invasive way to add meaningful bass without a ton of cost. I had this setup for years and it was great, it also made it easy to remove for track days etc.

joec500 is spot on for something easy and effective. I had a previous JL Audio mono amp, Audio Control Lc2 and 10” JL Audio box in my previous car. Had installer build a custom, vinyl covered box in the rear deck using the JL subwoofer with bass **** up front. Adds the bass I was longing for.

joec500’s idea is even easier and more cost effective.

Yah...I now have a bigger sub back there with a stand alone AMP under my driver seat, you can also run the same Bass **** for the powered JL sub I posted above. You need to purchase this as well:

Also once you add this sub, pull the fuse for the BOSE system Sub that's mounted under your driver dash. When you turn up your system and you have a real sub, the muddiness from that tiny worthless sub in the dash will takeaway the bass definition from your system. The fuse for the OEM sub amp is located in the passenger side footwell fuse panel.

Is it possible to upgrade to Burmester if you already have the BOSE system?

with enough money anything is possible, you will need the Burm Amp, all the speakers Subwoofer amp and probably some coding to the PCM to recognize the the Burm. Amp. My guess is this would cost upwards of 4,000+ With less money you can build a real system that will far outperform any OEM system, but it is more complicated.

I think the tweeters should be upgraded before the Sub.... The musicar ones are pricey, but worth it IMO, but I had the burmester tweeter upgrade and they were super nice, half the price of the Musicar and sounded much better than the Bose ones.
