295 on 12" is not recommended. 295 maxes out at 11.5" wheel.

Buy a Porsche pre built winter wheel set and save your self the likely damage that will happen from 2x year mountings and wheel weight removals.

Am I safe to presume that if I make an investment in the 20” wheels that I could put them on any 991.1 , 991.2 or 992 I might have in future, including a narrow-body ?

I dont think u can switch rims between narrow body and wide body if my memory is correct

In the 991 generation, the AWD cars can interchange wheels because they are all wide body. Unsure about the GT3, other then you will need CL wheels unless you did a 5 lug conversion.

I don't see how you could (fully) do that with a 992, they use staggered wheel sizing, either 20/21, or 19/20 on the base.

The 295 rear tires fit on the 11.5" rear wheels (because other threads have photos that show it isn't too stretched) but my dealer refused to do it. Porsche wants you to put the 295s on 11" wheels.

Here's what they want to to use (i.e. sell to you):

Summer wheels/tires:
Front axle: 8.5 J x 20 RO 49 with 245/35 ZR 20 (91Y) tires
Rear axle: 11.5 J x 20 RO 56 with 305/30 ZR 20 (103Y) XL tires.

Winter wheels/tires:
Front axle: 8.5 J x 20 RO 49 with 245/35 R 20 91V M+S tires
Rear axle: 11 J x 20 RO 56 with 295/30 R 20 97V M+S tires.

I believe that the Turbo and GT3 cars are “mega wide” bodies, slightly wider than the C4, C4S, and GTS. I’m not sure if that impacts wheel offset or not.

How do I determine what width my wheels are ? Can I measure this without dismounting the tire ? I have painted Carerra Sport Wheels (build sheet code was XRD)

I always mount snows on OEM wheels and buy cool set (P101 this time) for summer

not a safe assumption. lots of variability and Widebody to Narrow is an issue. Even between WB 991.Xs there are spacers needed and some may be incompatible so going to 992 Im sure has lots of risk including different size wheels front and rear on some(all?) models.

Porsche recommends 295 on their 20" wheel. Thats what dealers sell.....its in the manual too.
