991.2: Pirelli P0 or Michelin SP 4S
Dear all,
few days ago coming back from Sicily as soon as I took the highway to Reggio Calabria in the tunnel-Bridges-tunnels section, I saw the pressure indicator of the left rear wheel go down quickly.
Within two kilometers the tire was on the ground and I had no way to stop myself.
After about ten kilometers I found a widening of the motorway service and I stopped. The wheel was obviously cut off.
Some problems with Porsche (Axa) assistance that first sends me to Reggio and then wants to send me for 250 km to the Porsche Center of Cosenza, always in tow truck.
I solve somehow with two used tires recovered for the goodwill of a tire repairman and I arrive slowly at home (Milan !!). I talk and show photos to a Pirelli super technician who can't explain what happened ...
At this point I have to choose: stay on Pirelli P0 or switch to Michelin SP 4S (they are the only Porsche homologated).
I use my 991 (20,000 km in 2 years) I do sports but I don't go on the track.
What do you recommend?

The general consensus is that the 4S is much, much better than the P0, but slightly more expensive. I’m still on P0 but I’ll definitely switch to 4S when the tread runs out on my tires.

I have nothing but good things to say about my Michelins ('19 C4S, new from January delivery).
I have 7k miles (11,265 KM) on the car since the first of the year. For such a low aspect tire, the ride quality, cornering grip and even the wet weather performance for summer tires are all very good (I'm sure the all wheel drive helps).
The rear tires' tread looks good, plenty left and wearing evenly.
Have used Pirellis in the past and currently on one of my vehicles. They seem to wear faster than Michelins.
Will buy Michelin when the time comes.

I've had both in my 991.2 4s. The Michelins are marginally quieter on the highway and are more comfortable in normal driving (less impact harshness at comfort setting). I like the Michelins more but they are wearing very fast. They are down to 6/32nds (starting from 9/32nds) at the rears after 5k miles. I usually switch once I hit 4/32nds of tread depth. Bridgestone has an all season tire too so that might be worth checking out as well.

Bought a set of MP4S for my ‘14 981CS. They were like night and day better than the OEM Goodyear’s. Especially in the rain.
i am up for a set on my 991.2 soon, and plan to replace the PZeros currently on the car with Michelins.
