Extended Warranty on 991.1

I understand why people buy these, but I don't do it. Warranty companies have to make money. They have actuaries that do the math to figure out how much they can sell you these things & still clear a profit. I'll take my chances against my PDK grenading.

As it turned out I never had to use the policy. The big difference for me was selling an 11 year old car with 2.5 year/30K mile warranty that is fully transferable. This was a huge benefit when selling and the buyer was very happy to have the coverage. If he did not want the policy it had cash value.
I used MJ and he was great to work with.

‘This is the same as any other type of insurance, you are buying peace of mind. I rather have it and not need it than need it and not having it.

Like I said, I get it. I'm not losing any sleep over it. If I couldn't pay to fix it if it did break, maybe I'd have a different outlook. Everyone has a different outlook on this stuff.

With all this “milestone” talk, I do have a data point....there is a 30% jump in cost at 45k miles at Fidelity (all via Mike Jourdain). I purchased my 3/36k, Platinum, $250 deductible, $3700 (rounded) with 3 days left on my factory warranty @ 43,924 miles on the ODO.

Milestone mileage from my fidelity experience are 10k and 25k. And 45k has just been added by socal c2s.
I'll get the 6yr for my 911 before 10k and it's at <9k now. It'll only give me 5yrs past factory but the hike after 10k is worth it. The Macan before 25k would be double the 911 cost so that money goes into a repair fund. With the quantity of Macans around, I'm expecting cheaper repairs from a wider choice of vendors.

I got my Fidelity Platinum for my 991.1 C2 at 21K miles for $3,600. 6 years/60K. I must have did good working on finding that price as it's maybe the "cheapest" I've seen. Amazing value, regardless of whether it's used.

If the 7MT and PDK are fundamentally the same wouldn’t the same challenge face the 7MT as well depending on the failure?
