Default 991.1 Parking Brake auto drive-off release does not function properly

My 2015 991 M/T Parking brake auto drive-off release feature has recently become uncooperative. My seat belt is fastened, the car is running, it is in gear, the door is closed and as I release the clutch..... It won't auto disengage requiring me to manually pull the release handle 8 out of 10 times.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I have on a couple isolated occasions and now I just do not set it in the garage at all, only when I am out somewhere do I set it and I tend to manually release it.

No issues here on a 2014, MT, with 70,200 miles. Use it every drive.

I'm not sure I've ever even tried to drive off with it set before... years of Pavlovian training with manual handbrakes, I guess.
