Bob, I have seen you comment that you have a 991.2 Targa 4 GTS in other post. Did you ever do the Cobb tune on that vehicle? I recently got a 991.2 Targa 4 GTS, and I am installing a Cobb tune now with soul performance sport cats, fabspeed tips, and ipd plenum-curious to hear your take. Thanks.

I have not had it tuned yet; however, I am contemplating one. Hydra is not that far from me relatively speaking and I can make it a day trip and have them do all the work. My local Indy shop, Pulse Racing Services, also does custom tunes so I may take that route. But I have had a Cobb tune on a different car in the past and I was very happy with the results.

To comment here-I successfully dyno'd my 991.2 on a two wheel dynojet with no "dyno mode". Just turn off all the nannies (traction, etc), put it in 4th and let it rip! You will get a host of lights/warnings but they will self clear within 5 mins of normal driving.

I figured it would work eventually. The Alfa Romeo Giulia doesn't have an option to turn off traction. That was a PITA to dyno.

I'm just hoping that the dyno mode will put my Turbo S into RWD so I can dyno it on a 2 wheel dyno as well

#3 - Giac bring in less boost on the low end which I believe helps reduce heat soak on the top end where it really matters.
Given a choice I would love to have a ton of torque with less peak boost for Normal the less low end and more peak for S & S+. I feel like the (3) modes are very underutilized.

Downsides of the Champion Tune:
#1 - Cost - Higher upfront cost and nothing to sell at the end
I usually get 75% back out of my Cobb AP's when I trade
#2 - More power and multiple levels of tuning ie Stage's & different octane
#3 - Maps can't be updated with the handheld unit
#4 - No PDK Tunes (Not available with the Cobb yet but expected to be just like the 991.1's)
#5 - No option to have the car checked and modified by a pro

I have purchased a dozen Accessports over the years and do highly recommend them but once you mod the ECM there is no going back on the 991.2. My only other choice was to buy a second ECM but that much trouble was not worth it.
Can you explain about dealer support? Are you saying porsche dealers would warranty a GIAC tune but not Cobb tune? I thought it varied dealer to dealer and it was rare to get a tune friendly one

We do have the F90 M5, and have dynos hitting 700whp with our JB4 system in RWD mode

You're able to do it with the Porsche as well with a PIWIS II programmer.
So I'm hoping this can do the same thing!

From what Ive seen. On the same car, cobb is a little faster than GIAC. They push the car much harder tho. And earlier there were lots of bugs. Probably ironed out by now. I dont think any of the tuned guys have blown anything yet and needed warranty. Lets see

That worked for me with my manual car but the PDK was a different story.

Does the ECU have to be removed and opened for the GIAC tune?

My 5 lug GTS

Agreed, remember the deal is through Champion Porsche but GIAC does their tunes.

This was all done through my dealer.

Suncoast and Manhattan Motor Cars also sell tunes. There are probably others across the country.
