Bought and paid for. Now just the long wait for delivery. Do you recommend getting a clear bra?

I had the whole hood (frunk lid) done as well and my PPF has marks on it to show it works.

Congratulations! I’m also awestruck by the Sapphire Blue / Targa combination. We ordered ours on 2/2/15 and took delivery 5 years ago, almost to the day.

Ours has just one 15k and plan to keep it forever... love the high rpm snarl of the NA engine and maximizing that fun with the manual transmission.

I second clear markers and Smart Top. Watching the top operating from outside the car is great fun! We skipped the clear bra stuff. I think they prevent chips for several years but get weird in the long run. I know how to touch up chips. I haven’t seen many 10 year old clear bras that look good.

Have fun and congratulations! Part of the reason we ordered ours was I anticipated this combination would be hard to find used... you did it!

PS: I’m not sure which one is more fun!

Congrats! I had a full PPF put on mine, right after it arrived at the dealership. Rock chips and scratches annoy me and I have had a car keyed before so I wanted a lot of protection. Two years later, the car still looks immaculate. It's really easy to clean, too.

All depends on what is important to you. You could always do just the front and rocker panels. Or just repaint the front after a couple of years. Or just ignore any chips or scratches and just enjoy the car. YMMV.

Default Insurance

Does anyone have a company to recommend for insurance? I know there are companies that specialize in sports cars, not sure if they are worth investigating, or just add on to our regular Allstate plan. (was quoted about $200 per month)

I have been very happy with USAA.

usually insurance companies give you better prices when you insure a few things with them, like the house and your cars, your wife’s car etc... so if you trust your current insurance company this is where I would start.

Just use regular insurance. Go for the maximum deductible you can afford if something were to happen ($1,000 hopefully) as this will significantly reduce your payments and most likely you won’t need it anyway. Going for a high deductible will pay itself very quickly. Also, please make sure you have good liability coverage - If you have N umbrella policy, you can carry less (as allowed by your insurance company) to further reduce monthly payments. Really look at different options with your agent.

I currently have Progressive and the rate is very good, much better than Allstate from where I was. But I am adding a G550, and maybe a 458 soon, so I have to find a new place as well since they will not cover a Ferrari.

I also had my TTS insured with Progressive, and I was surprised how cheap it was when I added it.

I recently switched to MetLife because the overall package was better (home, auto, umbrella), but the 911 itself is a lot more expensive than it was with Progressive.

What is their reasoning? Too valuable?
