My 911 is now coming to its lease end the first week of November and now considering the next step. The plethora of Porsche reminders keeps it on my mind. I just checked the current payoff and it's $71 K. I looked on cars.com for a similar car to get an idea of asking prices, and there are no cars at all like mine. It seems that a MT C2 with LED lamps, SC, and PSE is a bit rare. Car's that I found that were close were in the 80's. Then I started looking at the new Porsche models, the 992 and the 718 Spyder. I think Porsche really loves their cars and wants to keep them as the lease rates are insane. So, I found PenFed has something similar to a lease that made it more reasonable. Still following?
Then I went and configured a 992 (MT available Feb), and for a similar car, it's quite a bit more cash. I'd have to add the SportDesign front end for my liking and until I got the same options, it's too much to spend for a C2. And honestly, I've been gestating it for some time now and don't think I like it. A Spyder would be cool, but I do take my 911 on long trips and like the interior room.
So, I am thinking about buying it off lease. It seems by just turning it in, I am giving them thousands as the final amount is about 67K. They could sell it easily CPO for well into the 70k's, maybe 80k. I also just put a new set of Michelins on it. If I change my mind later, I can always trade it in.
Keep it. Other than the momentary honeymoon of getting something new, it seems like you have something that fits you better than the alternatives, and makes the most sense financially.
Do you like your current car? If so, I would keep it and save thousands on the new car. 992 and 991.2 are not much differences beside design cue. Love the new 718 Spyder but way too over price and dealer markup just totally kill it for me.

Are you serious?
If so, and you like taking your car on long trips (and if I were you) I would keep what you currently have.
If I were buying new, I would go for a 992.
Before my 30 month lease ended they wanted to put me into a similarly optioned 2019 .2 with a new lease and new down payment. I thought about the similar options that you have described, and I just couldn't justify walking away from my 2016 .1 and start a new financial commitment at a much higher cost and lease payment. Ultimately, I kept the my car. I am currently happy with that decision.
Thanks all for the advice. The Spyder certainly is compelling, but I do think my C2 is a great fit for me. I do love the raucous NA engine, but the twin turbo three liter is very sweet. Its all the car I can handle.
The 992 C2 is not a compelling car for me at this point in time
