Will be interesting to compare levels of metal in the same M1 5w/50 from 3 different engines.

In the future, you can buy 6 test kits from Blackstone in bulk and save a couple bucks per test. FYI.

As expected. Mobil 5W50 stays in spec and does not show the sheering of 0W40.

Yep, I've had good results with it in my turbo and M5 too.

The "Should be" ranges are for the current, 50 weight oil, not the 40 weight oil that was analyzed on 30 April 2016. So, I don't think you can say that the 40 weight oil is out of spec, as there is no frame of reference.

Good point Jason.

Here is the OP Blackstone report.

Here is a Blackstone UOA for the reported Mobil 1 0W-40

64.8 and 11.56 in the OP initial oil change (right most column) is in spec according to Blackstone normal ranges of 63-76 and 11.1-14.8. Both are quite low in both ranges but in the ranges nonetheless.

Can you use the M1 5W-50 in the Northeast all year round? It doesn’t get really less than 15F in the winters here normally.

It's the "5" you want to focus on for the cold start performance, not the "50". That's for the hot operating temperature performance. If you were in arctic conditions, you'd want a 0W40.
