Default Maximum Speed with bike on roof?

So I finally have an opportunity to do a road trip with my bike next weekend.

I have OEM Porsche rack and Porsche road bike mount.

I’ve never driven with a bike on a roof rack and after doing my first test install I’m a bit worried about how fast I can drive. Any advice from roof rack regular users?

What is maximum mph I can drive? Can I do 100mph? I’m on a 500 mile round trip ride.

Thanks in advance and and any other advice I may need during my trip will be much appreciated!

Forget top-speed. What about clearance in your garage.

Maybe a couple zip ties for added insurance.

Any rockets today on the horizon?

lol you know i was actually thinking about zip ties too. but the thing is held together on the front by front fork quick-release skewers and there is really no place for zip ties there. i can zip the rear wheels but if my front fork rips off, i would prefer the bike completely fly off my car than be held on by the rear wheels by the zip ties and the damage the car lol

I have a seasucker bike rack for my 911. I had it up to 85 mph with no problem.

Here is a video of it on a Nascar at over 140 mph with tons of g-forces. No problems.

I don't know about maximum speed but 128 with my mountain bike on a fork mount and Porsche crossbars.

the way the traffic and roads are over there and so many speed cameras, unless you're driving out to the country side can you even drive that fast?

There would be very little resistance so I assume you should not have any problems going as fast as you want, as long as it is secured well.

I believe the manual says 80mph with bike on the rack. 100mph rack only.
Don’t open sun roof. I don’t think it will clear side to side.
I just bought a rack for my 991.1. I have not installed it yet.

Heading down to Busan! You’ll be surprised how clean and open the roads are these days (during off peak hours of course), and all the speed cameras (99% of them anyways, knock on wood) are marked on all navigation apps. So pretty easy to speed around between speed traps.

I ordered mine with the car. That was nearly 2 years ago and this will be my first time too

Is that max speed with or without a rider on the bike (on the car)?
