Default Flat tire

Got a message that my right rear tire was 6psi low. I found a screw and removed it and tried a tire repair kit I bought for my track kit. Screw came out easy as did the air in the tire. the reaming tool went in & out easy. But when I tried to put the plug in, it would not go through the hole. I tried twisting, banging the tool with the palm of my hand. nothing worked. finally after much cursing it went in enough to stay when I pulled the tool out. seems to be holding air but Ill check it in the AM. This was done in my warehouse at work on a lift. couldn't imagine doing this on the side of the road. Anyone have tips? or did I forget a step?
Time for new shoes!

It's easier working downwards with the weight of your body (tire removed).

^ THIS

I also carry one of these in my car, I have yet to use it *knock on wood* but it seems like a better roadside solution for ease of use.

I just found out I have a flat on the rear right (seems everyone gets a flat on that tire). Haven't had a chance to look for the culprit, will do so tomorrow.

Prob cuz it's the widest tire and closest to the shoulder where nails etc like to hang out.

Did you slather it with adhesive before inserting it ( this lubes it up).

Our tires have an amazingly strong internal carcass. You need to rasp the puncture, or else you're never going to be able to get the plug and plug tool into the tire.

Pro tip : overinflate the tire before attempting the tire repair. This will make the insertion of the reamer and tire plug much easier and the plug will hold better. Trying to ream or insert the plug tool on a tire with very low pressure is difficult and the plug will not hold as efficiently.
