Default Driving with wind

Hi guys I am new to the 911 precisely 991.2 c4s
i was trying to push it to decent speed in the presence of moderate wind and it felt like the car was lifting off and could not go above 90-100 mph. Does this happen to you too?

No, it does not.

This needs to be moved to the proper 991 Forum.

maybe not - when he said "push it" he may have been using a 911 to push a 992

you know- as a wind break

Hmm, headwind, crosswind, tailwind, which one? What ambient wind speeds?

The front of my 991.2 C4S lifts on heavy acceleration but not because of any wind influence. It's been up to nearly 100MPH and I haven't experienced any lift of the type you describe.

I don't think this thread is serious but call me a sucker for playing along: NO, and I hit triple digits each and every time I go out, and I make my own wind actually! By the way, did you every hear of a "wind tunnel"?

Right foot needs to be pushed down more. Have been to 165 in my car, was planted at all times.

Try flooring it to the top of 4th gear without letting off. You should reach around 135. Let me know what happens.

All cars move in strong wind. It was certainly not lifting off the ground at 100mph. With a strong head wind the car would still get near top speed. A 911 does not feel as planted in front from the lack of weight. However I also have realized the front end is better at taking impacts (I drive on a lot of pot hole filled roads I guess), because of that lack of weight. Just go with the movement and put your foot down more.

How many miles on your tires? If <500 miles, the mold release is not scrubbed off yet. That will give you a "light" feelig at speed.

I thought I read that you broke wind and felt the car lift . . .

Nevermind

Not at all. I've only had mine to 155 mph, though.

Well that is different then! Side (cross) wind cannot be controlled unless you change your position, like a ship (I was in the Navy). If you think it is bad in your car try a motorcycle one day!

Adding the SPASM lip might help but seriously doubt there was lift at reasonable speeds. Maybe tires are done?
