Dusty Rust on Wheels After Washes
As the title says, every time I wash my car, I’ll notice the next day or two, this dusty rust all over my wheels, and I haven’t even driven the car. I have aftermarket wheels that are satin black, so it’s a pain to clean, last time I do that. Where the hell is it coming from? I use Adam’s Polish wheel cleaner, which is the best. I finish washing the car, dry it up and towel dry the face of the wheels and it looks fine. Couple of days later, I see it covered in rust, all over. Not sure what I can do to prevent that, any ideas?

After washing, take it around the block. There's always some residue in the calipers etc that will come out. When you get home, give it a quick wipe and you'll be fine. That works for me in any case. It also keeps the rotors from rusting if you take it for a drive right after a wash.

I’d try going around the block after washing to spin water off the rotors. And maybe get some wax inside the wheel barrels? Thinking maybe water is resting inside the rotor vent area and rusting?
i like this brush for the wheel barrels also:
TAKAVU Master Wheel Brush, Easy Reach Wheel and Rim Detailing Brush 18'' Long Soft Bristle, Car Wheel Brush, Rim Tire Detail Brush,Multipurpose use for Wheels,Rims,Exhaust Tips,Motorcycles

I’ll give that a try. But I need to wipe down my wheels. It’s all over the barrel and inside part of the face.

I ceramic coated my wheels, so they are sealed. I can easily dust off the rust, but it’s a pain to do all of the time. Never had this issue with any other car.

I read that there are after market brake pads (Centric) that are much better in terms of brake dust. I am definitely going to try these - may not wait for my OEM's wear out.

Agreed. I bought the Master Blaster and use it on the rotors. It works perfectly. It will blow some of the rusty water on the bottom of the wheel but it wipes off nicely with a cloth. It’s also great for getting the water out of the wheel nut holes. I wear ear protection when using the master blaster. It is very powerful 4 HP motor with hot and cold air setting. Great for getting water out if the side mirrors as well

I didn't even think to use the blaster. I have a smaller one from Adam's Polishes, that'll definitely do the trick.

Many use them and at less than $100 they are a deal. I had a pair I was going to install but wound up getting PCCBs. Keep in mind that rust and brake dust on wheels are from 2 different sources.

Aftermarket wheels?
I only get brake dust buildup in my standard 20 inch wheels in my 991.2,4s. All I do is spray some wheel cleaner, scrub with a small curved brush (that was part of a kit from Porsche) and rinse with water. After letting them dry for 30 minutes or so, I wipe the excess moisture off with a towel and go for a short drive to prevent rust on the rotors. Works like a charm. But needs cleaning every two weeks.
