Hey Everyone,
Last year when I was in Europe, I saw a couple of 991.2s and I really liked the Euro tail light setting. The top solid bar blinked amber and the 4 rectangular LEDs stayed solid when the brake was on. Is this something that the dealer can program in our US based 991.2?

Nope, sorry, and I wish the same. It all has to do with regulations (surprise, surprise) and it is the same as the diminished LED headlight capability: ROW and us!

the light casings themselves are different for the Euro/RoW models. FWIW, on a 991.1 the euro tail lights are nearly plug-n-play. just need to dremel a small a bit of plastic so the connector head will mate with the harness. Maybe its the same for the .2??

It's not terribly expensive, and if it works I could recoup some of the costs selling my US tinted tail lights. Could be worth the risk.

Regarding .1 tail lights, what is the difference between US and Euro?

Did you (or anyone else) ever go through with switching to Euro spec. tail lights? I'll be moving back to Europe and guess I'm going to need to perform the switch (either in the US or on arrival). If I can perform the switch in the US I'll have a pair of dark/tinted rear tail lights coming of my 991.2 Targa 4 GTS if anyone is interested!

Suncoast sells 3 versions of the OEM tinted/ darker tail lights; North America, outside NA LHD and outside NA RHD. This leads at least me to believe this can’t be sorted with coding alone. Sent them a question and they said they haven’t done this on the 991.2 but on the Macan and the 718. Neither of the required coding but the connection required a slight mod (in line with another comment I saw). Will poke around some more and try to get something from either PCNA or Stuttgart but am tempted to try this switch. Will report back if I learn anything more.

The light swap for the 991.1 is straight forward. Functionality-wise its the same, but the harness on the US and Eu models have notches that are different. Basically you just need to dremel the notch on the taillight end so the harness will slide right in. After that, all functions worked, no dash errors, etc. Having done Euro light conversions on several cars I have to say this is one was the easiest. Hopefully the 991.2 does something similar. If no one has done it, I would look at the pin arrangements and see if they are compatible with the one we have.

US spec (top) Eu spec (bottom) - this had a small notch on the right side, while the US model is notched on the left
