Mid engine GT4 is awesome. Friend has one and just a blast to drive fast or slow.

The GT4 is too much car for me. The clutch is really hard and driving the car was like working out. Also, I’m not a fan of the nylon door handles. However the car was nice and nimble, but I guess I like the refinement of the 911 more.

Well, a bicycle is more fun than a 911. Even if they were the same price, I would choose a bike every time. There is nothing like the after-ride buzz of a hard 2-hour ride followed by a satisfying adult beverage. Or, that really hard 5-hour, 100 mile hilly century that gives you the 1000 yard stare but the good feeling that stays with you for days.

I am lucky to own both, but if push came to shove, it would be easy to kick the 911 to the curb and ride my bike every chance I got.

I think the Cayman is just as refined, just not the GT4.. I am sure the GTS is plenty comfortable.

The GT4 was tempting but the gearing from the 981S and detuning of the 3.8 result in less straight line performance in stock form compared to what I expected:

On the street, it felt marginally faster than my 981CS with PASM and PTV.

Factoring in a 30k higher MSRP compared to my 3 year old car at the time, trade losses, and ADM, there was no logic in it for street use.

If if I hadn’t already owned a 981, I would have probably bought one.

I miss owning a Cayman but at this point I have zero regrets owning my Carrera T.

Agree completely, had a 981 before and have a T now and I find it to be a step up in every way other than sound. The Cayman was easy to drive hard, while It took much longer with the T due to the rear engine setup and resulting handling characteristics. I think the T is definitely more engaging than a standard 981, but I have yet to drive a GT4.

Fwiw, I do have my name on the list for the 718 GT4 but I’m honestly underwhelmed and don’t see any reason to switch. A .2 GT3 on the other hand......

While the GT cars in all versions are great track cars, they aren't as good daily drivers as the standard 911's. Best thing is that they are all depreciating and when they reach the acceptable price point, make a great addition to the stable.

I know, it’s the same engine, slightly detuned. I think what got me, was the weight distribution and the agility. It was sublime. I absolutely loved driving that car, but the rear kind of kills it for me. The 911 rear is a classic and what made me love the Porsche brand. But man, that GT4 is nice. Has anyone moved from a 911 to GT4? I’m sure they have, just curios how they feel after a while of ownership. I haven’t searched yet, but I’m going to.
@stout Had a GT4 and now owns a 991.2.

I was referring to a motorcycle, AKA bike.

No one in this forum, and if you are the exception there is a different forum you should think about posting in.

You guys are right, I can’t see myself going from any 911 to a GT4. I would love to add it to replace one of my cars, but not the 911. I would miss it too much.

Had over 1000 miles in my brother's Carmine Gt4. Car was meh for me but that is coming from only GT cars. Bought a RAS stick Carrera T with some special sauce and I like that much much more. The RS is for track and weekends. Also have a 997 RS. The GT4 is ruined by a very mundane motor and horrid gearing to cap it even further. Carreras with RAS feel close to mid engine now.

Agreed as I came out of a turbo Cayman wide body race car. Carrera T feels in many ways just as sharp with even better turn in with RAS. Gearing is better and usable power from 3.0 T is just awesome. Being able to tune 3.0T easily to 500 hp is another perk. 911 puts down power better and handles constant radiaus turns better Cayman handles transitions better. I enjoy T just as much as Cayman but it has more usable power and better turn in as well as better traction under power. Braking also better than in Cayman. Only occasionally am I reminded 911 has big lump in back. My Carrera T with lightweight battery, lightwaeight exahuast and lighter wheels is roughly 3000 lbs. It dances in AX etc. Frankly havent had a GT4 put any time on me. I usually slot between well driven GT3's and Gt4s behind my times.
