They were a manufacturing defect and cost 6k to replace. To me these motors seem very robust and there are a couple of examples mentioned of bore scoring but again you put a car on the track and it is aging as fast as your hound dog.
don't know of and hope to never find out about this door panel warping, but i can tell you the little small pc of silver trim on the door pull will peel and is not covered under CPO.

IMO, don’t bother with CPO. The extra cost is not worth it and the common issues that do come up are all things you should be checking for in a PPI. Many things are excluded from CPO contrary to what others have said. CPO provide great coverage for powertrain issues but 991 track record there has been solid. Make sure car service is documented well.

Good Luck.

I bought a 2013 991s Cabriolet with 36k miles. PASM, PDK, Bose, and CPO from a Porsche dealer in California. Blue Metallic on tan. Paid 71k. The CPO to me was worth the purchase. It’s bumper to bumper aside from wear and tear for two years no questions asked.

for a price point check, I purchased a 13 C2S CAB with a new CPO for 54,000 in April of 2019 with 64k miles at delivery. I had the option to purchase without the CPO for 52,000, but I felt it was a no brainer for 2k more. The car has a 138,800 sticker and is incredibly optioned. My favorite 911 to date. I've driven 3k miles so far and love the PSE (in SPORT mode) with the Sport wheel w/ the paddle shifters. The noise, groans, pops and gargles this car makes is just musical. In addition, with the top down the Bermeister is insane. The base notes this hits is nuts. I sold a 2008 TT CAB and this 991 is far more stable and ridged than the 997 cars (IMO), however I have PDCC on this car.

Get the CPO car and forget about it . . .

Fantastic looking car and I think you got an exceptional deal, congrats! Also agree you made a very good choice getting it CPO’d.

Strange coincidence but while I wait for my C2 to be delivered I’m borrowing a friend’s TT Cab...it’s great fun especially with the top down...think my next 911 may be a Cab!

Picking up my first 911, a 2013 991 Cabrio (the only 911 for me) that is nicely optioned from a Porsche dealer for just under $50k, miles are a little high at 70k, but I drive my cars a max of 5k miles a year, plus I’m working overseas for the next 2-3 years, so the CPO option didn’t appeal to me.... I sure would like to meet some first time buyers and gauge their thoughts over time.

There are some good deals out there; you just have to look and be flexible.... good luck!

Hi guys,

Let me know what you think about this car and the price.

Autotrader website:
http://atcm.co/S2PVDP/1ec8b4fa

My gut reaction is that $63k for a 2013 C2 cab with 31,000 miles is a little high. MSRP was $114k. This car’s CPO warranty just ran out in February 2019. Doesn’t seem to have any issues at all and car looks clean. I will say that the color scheme is more rare on used vehicles so am liking that part and willing to pay a slight premium. KBB is showing $55k to $61k (midpoint $58k) assuming excellent condition.

There’s another post for $64k for a 2014 C2S cab with similar miles, but the owner has not been responsive.

Thank you and would greatly appreciate your thoughts!

Lookup the Carfax and use the other car to negotiate price down on this one. Always get a PPI done. After PPI use that to negotiate price further down for any issues that do come up.

Find a place that will inspect car body, paint and mechanical.

Regarding price, I think ~58-60k is fair if they did the 40k & 6 year service with decent set of life on tires left. If they didn’t do the 40k + 6 year service which is due or is due soon, use that to negotiate price down as that costs between $1500-$2250. Look at tires, see how much left and keep negotiating down. (Same with break pads)

Negotiate hard but don’t get stubborn and lose a car you like over $1500 if it has what you want and matches the condition your looking for.

Good Luck.

Interesting to hear that the 6 year service costs that much. I just looked through CPO paperwork on the C2 I just bought and they did that service and put on two new rear tires as part of the Certification. Very pleased about this!

If buying a 991 and you can swing the extra $ I would definitely buy an S. I feel the extra money is worth the ponies.

40k service or every 4 years is like ~$1700. Drive belt at 60k or 6 years is ~$500. Will vary by market/dealer. Cheaper at indie mechanics.

Can anyone tell me a quick way to pull the Porsche options list if you have the VIN? The Porsche dealers tend to post it, but when I find cars outside of Porsche dealers it would be nice to pull that official options list. Or can only Porsche dealers pull those?
