Hi Mystic, I also bought my first used Porsche in the last couple of weeks (still waiting for it to be shipped to me!), and I’m stretching my budget a little bit to afford it. Nothing major I’m quite careful with money.

i ended up with a choice between two Black 2013 911’s: one local to me with a really nice spec including Sport exhaust and Premium Plus, but no warranty, or another with fewer options but CPO. Both about the same price.

in the end I went with the CPO and I’m glad I did. I know you can buy aftermarket warranties but for me the CPO is the best. I paid about $53k including shipping for a 2013 C2 not loaded but with a few nice options.

Good luck!

Default disagree

Cabs go at a discount. This deal seems solid if car checks out.

Default pdk over 50k

You take a discount on pdk and another
More signifigant discount on over 50k. Great deal for a daily driver that has already ingested depreciation.

Car had taken a bird to the hood and was replaced and shot with the front bumper, so it looks new up front. Since it's my DD, I wasn't concerned about miles as much since I think you have diminishing depreciation on cars with some wear already.

For your 30k version with less options, I think they are asking 62 hoping for 60, offer 55 and see what happens.

agreed on the discount for cabs. I saw a cab that was very well equipped (close to 132k) that was sold for 75k CPO-ed

Unfortunately the 997 got sold AGH. I am now looking at an actual 2013 991 priced at $63k, but doesn’t have many options and is the Base Carrera model. Has 31k miles on it.

I know you guys had mentioned that low $60s was high for a 997, but low for a 991. I just ran this car through KBB and got an average private sale of only $51k. Why such a large delta that is not factored into KBB between what you guys think the 991 market is at and KBB. Thanks very much guys!

Mystic, I just bought a 2013 base Carrera with 50k miles from a Porsche dealer for $51.5k . As it’s newly CPO’d I think I got a good deal but not exceptional. Just posting for comparison with the one you’re looking at.

Not to thread jack, but I'm in the same boat as OP (1st time Porsche buyer looking at 991.1 cars). Can I ask why everyone is saying so much about CPO and private warranties here? Does the 991 has major issues like the 997? I know 997.1's have the IMS issue, etc. If not, why would you be so concerned about getting a warranty on a vehicle with only 30K miles? You would think a $100K (new) German car would be more durable and everyone wouldn't need to be so paranoid about having a warranty to go from maybe 30K miles to 60K miles during ownership?

And also, let's say you find a 2013 991 that's a CPO. Typically how long is that CPO warranty lasting? Is it full bumper to bumper or does it have limitations?

It lasts for two years, as long as the mileage is under 100k. Very few limitations, pretty much the same as the new warranty. Details are on the Porsche website. Main concern is the PDK since they won't fix it, only replace it and it's very expensive.

OK, I'm only wanting the 7SPD manual, so less issues and worries with those? What about bore scoring and all stuff I've heard about, does it apply to the 991 cars?

From all my research on these cars, they are basically very well built and reliable but quite a few smaller repairs are regularly needed and even those can be very expensive if you don’t have a warranty to cover it.

CPO won't cover interior components and trim from what they deem to be "wear and tear". Aside from that it's MOSTLY the same as new warranty.

I believe that poster meant low for a 991.1S. Non S 991 are not as desirable

In my experience paying a little extra for a car with good documentation and good rating on a PPI is well worth it. Without knowing the options, history, and condition of the car the price is hard to tell. I would search around other cars for sales and try to compare the price to other cars with similar options and mileage. Good luck with it!

Default pdk door panels

There seem to be some problems with pdks (im gonna venture a guess that they are caused by repeated launches and track usage) covered underr fidelity platinum. The only reason i could think CPO would have any value would be if the door panels warp. On a car that old this probably would have already happened or they have been replaced. They were a manufacturing defect and cost 6k to replace. To me these motors seem very robust and there are a couple of examples mentioned of bore scoring but again you put a car on the track and it is aging as fast as your hound dog.
